Not knowing the area too well I booked a table at Kam Tong on the recommendation of a friend. With the friend being Hong Kong Chinese I thought they would know their stuff - they did! Ten of us had a great evening with top quality food, really excellent service and a surprisingly well selected wine list for a Chinese restaurant. I would thoroughly recommend Kam Tong if you're in the area.

I heard that the restaurant is under new management so I was curious and went back with a few friends and boy, were we pleasantly surprised how things have improved. The whole place has had a makeover and looks great, clean and bright. The food was actually pretty damned good too with really good quality dim sum (I loved the BBQ pork puffs and the prawn hau gau dumpling) and the roast duck that hangs in the window very tasty. The other dishes were also good and value for money as the portions are generous.
Service was friendly and polite and they didn't rush us out even though it was busy with a few customers queuing.
I would highly recommend if you are in the area.

The restaurant has just been refurbished and feels very clean and tidy. My family had dim sum for lunch and we were impressed with the quality and range. Staff friendly, had to wait a few minutes for a table because it was quite busy. Duck sit pancakes particularly good.

Kam Tong is by far my favorite chinese restaurant in London, and trust me, I have visited many! The service is excellent and food is even better. I would definitely recommend you eat here, its wonderful.

Bad experience here. On their menu it says "set menu, at least for 2". The price is about 19p (don't remember exactly). Then I ordered a set menu for my girl friend and me. But at the end they charged me over 40 pounds for 2 sets (including 10% surcharge). Actually they just served 1 set!
Can they just simply say "This set is only for 1 person"???? They are trying to misleading. The restaurant owner has no integrity at all!
I ate in another restaurant around Baker street a few days before. I had 1 soup, 1 pot tea, 3 dishes and 1 fried rice just with 43 pounds around. But the environment and food quality were much better than Kam Tong. Kam Tong is cheater.

Great place - food is tasty, service is fast even if a little un-smooth, and it feels like you are in Chinatown. The place is busy almost every day, busiest at weekends. The dim sum is great. It's not too expensive compared to general London prices, but also not too cheap. Expect to pay at least £15 per person without the drinks for a hearty meal.

It is not worth going to this restaurant, I would never ever come back again. The staff were not friendly at all and do not know how to serve well. I told one of the waiters that I have been waiting for my food for more than half an hour, he checked it to their system then he came back to me and said that they forgot to key in my order, what is wrong with them??? I asked for their manager, but he wasn't in, so I asked for his contact number to tell him what happened. The waiter told me that he doesn't know his number, I just cannot believe this.
Additionally, some of the dishes that I asked were not served because there were something wrong with their facilities. Why they didn't tell it to me when I arrived? and they just let me wait for nothing! so ridiculous!

We used to go here all the time when we lived here but hadn't been for a couple of years so I wasn't sure what to expect. I needn't have worried, the place was busy considering it was mid week and although the menus seemed new, the food was just as good, just as I remembered it.
I had the chicken in black bean sauce while my partner had salt and pepper squid, both were very good.
I think prices have gone up a little bit but it's still good value considering and the food is great.
Service was always good but it had definitely improved, with the main guy definitely friendlier than I've ever seen him before.
Just wish I could love closer to this place!

As part of my ongoing project to try every chinese restaurant in Queensway my wife and I had an early dinner at Kam Tong last week. It's right next to Bayswater station so handy for a post work bite. We were warmly greeted on entering and shown to a roomy table. Chinese is the one cuisine I am more than happy not to drink alcohol with so we went for a pot of lovely jasmine tea.
We ordered a fairly chinese 101 selection as we fancied a bit of comfort food. The starters seaweed and ribs were good with a generous portion of each. I was less impressed with the mains, I prefer the crispy shreeded beef dry. However my wife loved her sweet and sour chicken. The fried rice was good but the singapore noodles needed more heat.
The restaurant wasn't massively busy as it was early but the service was polite and friendly. The bill was itemized but I think they might have done the old trick of charging me for service twice which is naughty. On the whole I thought it was good but I still prefer the "Mandarin kitchen" up the road. I think I have another 3 places to try!
