HILARIOUSLY BAD
My girlfriend and I went there for an early dinner on a week night. When we arrived there was only one other couple eating in an otherwise empty dining area. The waitress showed us to a table but my girlfriend told her she preferred another one nearby. The waitress quite abruptly said "No, you cannot have that, it is for four people.". Keep in mind that the place was empty. We ordered a beer and a chelada. Aside from being a touch expensive at about four pounds a bottle, the beer was nice and cold. We then ordered some pork tacos and salsa and tortilla chips to start . My girlfriend ordered the chicken enchilada for a main and I ordered the lamb taco. Both starters were excellent (if not a little small) and tasty. We were relatively pleased but then it went very wrong. When our mains arrived we thought they'd mucked up the order. My girlfriend's plate consisted of two "enchiladas" about 8 inches long and an inch in diameter. The enchiladas were filled with dry, tough chicken meat and nothing else. They were covered with a sprinkling of barely melted cheese and were swimming in about a quarter inch of a tasteless salsa verde which had the appearance and consistency of green slime. My "taco" was exactly the same except it was filled with shredded lamb and covered in a tangy sauce. Both mains were presented with a handful of old shredded lettuce. Neither were very nice at all. It was possibly the most spectacular own goal I've ever seen a restaurant perform. It was laughable. We simply could not believe that anyone in their right mind would consider what we were served to be anywhere near of value. I'm not sure what the restaurant was trying to achieve but they failed miserably. The blow was softened slightly by a early bird discount on the food but even then it was poor value. We won't be going back and won't recommend it to anyone.

I went to this place last night with my girlfriend. Basically I'll cut a long story short. LOVELY atmosphere, nice staff (kinda), good music, really pleasant vibe. But the food.... OH MY GOD.
I've NEVER in my life eaten something SO disgusting. And I really mean that, it was virtually inedible. And so expensive.
I ordered the lamb taco, and my missus had the chicken enchilada. On the menu it says the lamb taco was 'two x-large tortillas filled with...' Picture this. Quite literally, the same size and proportions as a stick of seaside rock. A rolled up tube of tortilla, filled wit dry, cold, tough, chewy shredded lamb, and doused in the most revolting brown slop. It was some sort of tamarind, tart, bitter, vile swamp sewage which totally enveloped the food. I honestly cannot describe how utterly repulsive this thing tasted. Now, I'm no expert on mexican food, but COME ON.... No country would be proud of a dish like that. I've been to quite a few Mexican places, and they've been delicious. This was appalling. I almost felt sorry for the staff and the restaurant's owners. The chef should be sacked immediately I don't know where he/she learnt to cook like that. Comparing it to prison food would be a compliment.
As for the chicken 'enchilada' again, dry, chewy, tasteless slabs of protein, covered in this green slime and cold melted cheese. AND GET THIS... These 'dishes' both cost £7.80 each. So we basically paid £16 for thes 4 TINY portions of the most inedible garbage imaginable.
Trust me on this: AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS.You WILL regret it. By all means, go for a drink, nice, cold beers, but DO NOT eat there. Go somewhere else for dinner.

If you want to try good Mexican Food go to Boho Mexica. The place is small, charming and the lounge is specially cool. the food is elaborated, really good...The staff is kind and professional, there s no better thing that a waiter who knows everything about the dishes!the barman makes delicious cocktails. Maybe some were expecting Mexican fast food there???!!!! So try it, don t forget a cocktail...and....even the music is perfect for the place!

We left utterly astounded, in tears, hungry, out-of-pocket, and so full of negative energy that we had further arguments between ourselves on the way home. Entirely miserable experience. I will return to this spot only when Boho Mexica shuts down and many, many years have passed to soften these raw feelings. Minus one bazillion out of ten.

AMAZINGLY BAD!
I was seriously looking forward to my friday evening. A long, arduous week, with long hours, loads of deadlines etc... so what better way to welcome in the weekend but to go to a genuine mexican restaurant with some friends for a few margaritas and amazing food... an undoubtable recipe for success.... one would think/hope.
well sadly not. most definitely not. defiantly not.
I am not a picky person but this was by far the blandest, uninspiring, tasteless pile of folded/rolled up rubbish my taste buds have ever been forced to welcome into my mouth. Initially i thought it was me being a bit difficult, but when i started looking at the incredulous, then amazed, then abominably dissapointed faces of those around me i knew... we all knew... we had been PR bubbled.
Seriously bad bad bad.
Drinks nice though. So a tip from me maybe keep to serving drinks and a few mexican chilli peanuts from a can.

Boho Mexica looks like good value.. until you realise how they maximise their margins.
So we ordered the "Tostadas de Ceviche". The tortillas and the tomatoes were there, and after a lot of searching we did find three tiny slivers of fish, but not even enough to get a sense of the flavour.
Then we ordered the "Bistec a la Mexicana", which is not even that cheap at £8.50, and with a name like that you would expect it to be a plate of meat with some garnish. But guess what! The plate was filled with a generous helping of black beans, a couple of pieces of plantain, some tomato sauce.. and, yes!, three tiny slivers of meat, small enough to fit them all on one fork! It had to be seen to be believed.
For comparison i STRONGLY recommend going to Mestizo on Camden Road, where you pay £5 for a tasty, generously proportioned Burrito with loads of meat.

Do not be convinced by the Time Out review. I can only presume it was written by the owners mate...In fact, don't be convinvced by any review that gives Boho Mexica more than 1 out of 10.
I rarely ever do online reviews on places I go, but Boho Mexica is truly the worst Mexican or restaurant I've been to. Overpriced, terrible unfriendly slow service, tiny portions and not fresh-tasting ingredients. In fact, the steak was cold and coated in a sauce suspiciously similar to that from a jar. I couldn't wait to get out - especially as we were also boxed-in with two other couples within earshot and felt like we were having school lunches...only school lunches tasted better.

What a shame that the food here is so poor, because the place itself is cute, the waiting staff are charming and it's a nice change from the same-old, same-old chains that have turned Spitalfields into a bastion of blandrification.
But, there is no escaping that the kitchen just isn't up to the job. Granted, it was a Tuesday night, but nothing I attempted to eat suggested that the food would be any better on any other occasion.
The portions are tiny - think half an avocado for a portion of guacamole. Yes, this is Mexican street food, but if Wahaca, with about 4 times the covers of Boho Mexica, can deliver a more extensive menu, at a consistent standard and at lower prices, then there is no excuse for such meanness.
The Enchiladas de Mole - advertised as "chocolate and chilli sauced chicken" was in fact shredded chicken on palm-sized tortillas covered in a burnt-chocolate sludge. Strangely fascinating. Utterly inedible. When we told the waitress that the dish was terrible, she agreed, saying that she hated it! Pity she didn't tell us that before we ordered....
The Empanadas de Flor de Calabaza - billed as handmade turnovers with courgette flowers and melt-in-the-mouth cheese - were doughnuts, cooked in oil that tasted like it hadn't been changed since the Mexican Revolution. I couldn't tell you what the filling was, since there did not appear to be any.
With food like this, they'd be advised to make their margarita's extremely strong....
