Three of us went to this restaurant for an early dinner before heading to the O2 on Saturday 18 June. Arriving without a booking, we were greeted warmly and shown to a table with a view of the river as requested. The service remained just as warm and attentive (but not overbearing) throughout our visit and, alongside the fabulous food, made this a very enjoyable experience.

For starters we enjoyed prawns gratinee, steak tartare and crab mayonnaise, all of which were delicious, generous in size and served with perfectly toasted bread. After letting the waiter know when we were ready for our mains (something I've never been asked to do before - even in michelin starred restaurants - and a nice touch), a perfectly pink steak frittes, juicy and perfectly cooked sirloin steak and falling-off-the-bone lamb shank arrived at our table. All were thoroughly enjoyed and a little mention must go to the sides as fries were crunchy and tasty, braised peas were perfect and the green salad was better than your average with endive and tarragon to lift the flavours. The seasoning was spot on in each of our meals and the steaks had a wonderful, authentic chargrilled flavour.

We were having such a lovely time that we all had dessert despite being full - a perfect chocolate fondant, decadent iced berries with white chocolate sauce and a quality cheeseboard made for a great end to the meal.

All of this, with a bottle of wine, two glasses of champagne, two glasses of red, a port and two coffees came to just over £150 which included service. Unbelievable. Complimentary passionfruit liquers did leave us worrying we'd be falling asleep at the O2 though!

I didn't know what to expect from this reasonably priced bistro and hoped it would set the tone for an enjoyable evening - I'm super picky but needn't have worried; great food and faultless, friendly service means this restaurant comes highly recommended. I look forward to trying others in the chain to see if the standard is the same across the board.

After 2 hours of tasting superb wines at the fabulous Vinopolis in Borough Market, it was time to eat something to off set the mid day alcohol intake. This was a Sunday so although we contemplated Roast as its was close by, we decided that the mix of 14 wines might ruin the cost of a fine lunch some what.

Cote in Hay's Galleria was buzzing with a good lunch trade but we were swiftly seated at a table for two. We went for the weekend special. A choice of either half roast ‘Breton’ chicken, green beans and gratin potatoes or quick grilled steak, pomme frites with garlic butter. We had one of each with a very welcome glass of ice cold coke.

My chicken was perfect in every way and so was my pals choice. He polished his steak and chips off quickly and was eyeing off the chicken leg still on my plate. Lets just say he agreed at the end of the meal that the chicken was also very tasty!

The best part came in the form of a super friendly, not forced, genuinely friendly waiter who served us swiftly, efficiently and without any trouble. By mid meal, the place was packed but the Cote staff worked the room effortlessly. It was all very impressive.

We had a lovely Valentines weekend meal here. The service was really friendly and professional, and the atmosphere really relaxing and romantic. The food was superb, we both had the calamari for starters (delicious!) and my boyfriend had steak and I had cod goujons with frites and minted peas, which were both fantastic and there are a lovely variety side dishes to choose from. The frites are really tasty and skinny and served in little silver pots. We both had creme brulee for pudding, and coffees. We also had wine, beer and mineral water, and the whole meal cost about £75 which was really good value for such a brilliant meal and evening!
