Nothing special

Good thai food but not really worth going out of your way to get here. Also overpowering fried food smell in the restaurant

This Thai restaurant is among the best little gems I have come across. Everytime I come here the food wonderful and so authentic in its flavour and texture. I absolutely love this place and will always enjoy coming here for the wonderfully prepared traditional dishes. The quality of Thai food in this establishment is simply adorable.

Clean Food, GOOD TASTE. It's original and genuine Thai food which make you feel very Thai here by not going to Thailand. Everything in the restaurant seems OK to me, particularly the owner. Ratchada is not only a beautiful restaurant, but also a person. Come and taste by yourself, you could fall in love at first bite.

Having lived in Blackheath for 32 years and seen many restaurants come and go I do hope that Ratchada stays for a long time. I do have to disagree with previous comments on the food as this is simply the shining aspect of the restaurant.

The acoustics and space (which sometimes affect the speed of the friendly service) may not be to everyone's taste for a traditional restaurant but as I live just around the corner I can easiily forgive it. And the main reason for this and why Iove going there each and every time is that the food is simply the freshest tasting Thai food I have had in numerous Thai venues. The curry sauces are just the right viscosity and full of flavour but without removing the roof of your mouth(!) from spice as some places do - the pineapple and grape lamb curry is also great; the Ped Medkam is particularly lovely (wonderfully sweet dark sauce to go with well tendered duck) and I couldn't fault the Phad Thai as it was clearly packed with ingredients and flavours.

The starters and their dips are also very nicely done in that they always seem to be cooked in oils that have been frequently changed and the satay sauce is fantastic.

Overall the food here is among the nicest Thai you can get for the price and I've always been gald there is one with food of such quality so near!

A little gem for the Thai enthusiast - give it a go!

i have been going to ratchada since i moved to blackheath 3 years ago. this place is the best thai restaurant in the area. food is absolutely tasty and fairly priced. all the girls who work there are really nice and friendly. when i have visitors over i always treat them at ratchada's for authentic thai food. i love ratchada's curries and her delicious satay sauce. i have tried some other thai restaurants in the south east area but i always return to ratchada!

just love it!

The restaurant itself is quite attractive and the food is tasty HOWEVER the service is dire....only one other couple and were left standing by the door, no one taking drinks requests - the chef (very firendly) apologeticly came out and took them for us. They mixed up the order - we started eating and the waitress just snatched the food of us and gave it to the other table (can't have thought they were happy with half eaten portions)

Finally a menu with VAT retrospectively added on is just wrong.

Just use it as a takeaway

I've been going to this restaurant regularly for the past year, and am absolutely heartbroken to report that food standard and service have both plummeted.

I only decided to write about going TWICE to make sure it wasn't an odd bad night. It wasn't. The food's just totally nondescript and the noodles in particular are just mediocre.

Service in particular is just total rubbish.Last week, the team of three waitress was dreadfully slow, so much so that the table next to us left without ordering. When I expressed surprise, one diner said: "We're facing the toilet, the music is just awful, and no one's come to take our orders after 20 mins. We're taking our money somewhere else." Unfortunately we'd already gotten our starters...

The waitresses are just totally clueless. When we requested for cut chilli, she replied, " You want sugar?" Hello?!

When we came close to leaving while for our curry and noodles, I requested that she check on things. She asked me: "You want to order?" Er, *SHE* took our orders...

I love Thai food, and I am just crushed that this place has totally lost the plot - on service and food. What a waste...

Having been a Thai food fan for some years I had high expectations for Ratchada, what a disapointment ! The food is more like poor chinese than Thai, dry bought in starters and wishy washy main courses with no distinct flavour.

Then to top it all an overpriced bill that they add the vat to as apparently their menu prices do not inc vat . Our bill was £85 plus vat(£12.75) plus service,we had very little to drink(no bottles of wine). We will definitely not return.

A good experience. Staff were very pleasant. and kind The food was very reasonably priced--very good value indeed. The rice was very well cooked and my green chicken curry was of a very high quality. It was a bit on the spicy side perhaps but the dish was extremely well cooked and the sauce was excellent.. Definitely worth a visit and I'm sure I'll be returning.
