I was there for first and last time. Summing up, I wonder if the staff seeking ads say something like "Looking for useless, lazy people. For management positions rudeness also required".

Absolutely terrible food, service and the management are rude and surly!

Birthday lunch for 4. We all work in The Wharf and will not be returning. Wrong wine, then after 3 attempts the right white wine but tea temperature - waitress simply popped an ice cube in to cool it down!

Meat antipasto (nut free) came out with pistatio nuts in Mortadella (this was checked with waitress before ordering) - they don't do medium burgers because it is against the law so instead all have to consume well done slabs of black burger meat.

Dare you ask for more condiments - 3 times we asked for more oil and balsamic. when it did eventually arrive it was just balsamic!!!

We then complained and when the manager came over his first words after listening with his arms folded and his surly look were "what do you want me to do about it"...

There are so many lovely places in The Wharf we certainly won't be returning and if we can help it neither will any of the 1700 staff we have contact with in our office.

We were there some weeks ago and were delighted by a smiley waitress. We went back last week and asked to a waiter for the Spanish waitress. He told the Spanish one was a waiter, not a waitress. After telling him I was sure she was a girl, the waiter answered with very bad manners, telling that wearing long hair does not mean being a girl. He went without taking our order, and started to talk to another colleague, not attending to our efforts to be served. Finally, I stood up, went where the waiters were talking each other, and asked the bill for our drinks. After that, we enjoyed a tasty meal... at the Cat&Canary.

Slow service, poor quality food, £9.50 for 2 pints of beer and uncomfortable seating.

Say no more really.

Went to The Parlour for lunch with 4 colleagues and it was a total disaster. The food took ages and when it did arrive, there were ingredients missing from the salads, which were basically a whole lettuce leaf with a squirt of mayo across it. The burgers were cold, as was the steak sandwich which was also chewy and gristly.

We all sent our food back and were invited to come back for a complimentary lunch. We went a week later, all ordered steaks, they were all overcooked and also cold by the time they arrived at the table. Under no circumstances would I recommend eating here, unless you are trying to upset someone!

I went with a friend on a Friday night. This is a good place to go for a drink but not to eat. We were the only two people eating in the whole place and we were surrounded by Friday night revellers. While the staff were pleasant, they were incompetent. They forgot about our starter, then offered to replace it with a dessert on the house and then tried to charge us for it. While my friend's chicken was fine, my chicken salad was very basic - some slices of what looked like processed chicken on 4 lettuce leaves. The wine was very good and well-priced. By the end, we wished we had come for a drink and not eaten anything.

Not a bad looking place. I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy which I thought was a good thing until I discovered why that might be - the food! Under cooked mussels didn't impress, over cooked pasta and worst of all was the mashed potato that accompanied the chicken pie (this really is the worst mashed potato I've tasted), wrong potato, too much water in them and worst of all was the revolting taste of vegetable fat. I complained and asked if somebody could taste the food to get there opinion - this was not done and no refund was offered. All the dishes were over presented, clearly too much focus on presentation and not enough on content. There were four of us eating there and all that was offered was a free drink by way of an apology. We declined and made a hasty exit - they really had missed the point.

Was in The Parlour yesterday and had some of the best cocktails I have tasted this side of the Atlantic. What a place, you would never believe you were in Canary Wharf. You must go!

My wife and I had dinner here with 5 friends (and a baby) on Saturday 12th December. We were nervous having read the reviews, but checked it out a week in advance for a quick drink (and a knickerbocker glory).

On the night it was excellent, the staff were extremely friendly and happy to help when we asked them to move some furniture around so we could sit at another table. The waiter (Phillip) we friendly, helpful, and all our guests really liked him. The food itself was delicious - I had the special; a Game pie with rabbit, and my friends all commented that their food was delicious too.

All too often a fashionable new bar opens to rave reviews, and the staff immediately become arrogant, un-accomodating, and eventually end up hurting the reputation of the restaurant. I think that because the opposite happened here (the restaurant had some bad reviews when it opened) the management and staff have really mucked in to help as much as they can. I will definitely be going back, and my friends loved it too.

One last comment, some friends thought it was over designed, but must of us (me included) absolutely love the design... in 2010 I hope to be spending many happy weekends checking it out in more detail!

Just had lunch with a table of 5, we had to book xmas lunch to guarantee a booking and despite pre chosing all our courses we then had to ask for each course to be served and the wine to be served. Lunch took 2 2/12 hours. The decor is great but they really need to get their service sorted out.
