I attended a function at The Parlour on Friday 16th Dec. An area was booked for 35 people. However, it barely suited 15 people and although over £600 was spent on food and drink, there was barely enough food for 10 people!
It seems as though they take as many bookings as they can, with no thought to how many people the place can hold. It just seems to me as though they want to make as much money as possible.
I complained that the area was not big enough and was told that it was a busy night! And when we said the food was inadequate, I was just told that it was expensive!
It's not a place I would recommend for large parties.
I will not be returning.

We booked for a party of 35 and even though the ambience and location were good the food and service was appalling. The area was too small and the food for 35 people barely fed 15 people, even though after complaining we were promised extra food.
I think they can get away with it because its a good location and people in the wharf can afford the extra price but I came away feeling thoroughly disappointed.
Its a lively place to go for a drink but thats about it!

reeeeaaally slow and inexperienced bar staff. silly prices. they also have a habit of taking your change at the bar as a tip without asking.
waiting for a pint is funny, it took the guy like 3 minutes to cork a wine bottle and pour 2 glasses of wine for the order before me. there were 2 other bar staff doing nothing at the time. the guy noticed I was sort of waiting and said something like we have a customer waiting but the other 2 staff just carried on chatting... you cant really help but get annoyed.
nice ambience in there though. nice location. lively place to go for a drink. but dont go there for food or good service. you will get neither (they can get away with it because its a good location and people in the wharf can afford the extra price). you can see from the other reviews everyone is saying the same thing.

Visited 24/8/11.
Overpriced, painfully slow service (4 people serving behind the bar and customers are 5 deep), with rude people. Not the best combo for a nice evening out.
To top it all off they add 12.5% service charge to your bill and then another 12.5% 'tip' on top!
25% on top of the cost of your drinks that you queue for and collect yourself - are you kidding me!
Check your bills !! Life's too short. Certainly won't be going back.

Sat outside in the inviting fairy-light lit area on Friday and had an average glass of wine - the setting was nice, but 2 glasses of wine came to £14.55 - they charged me service to queue up and collect the wine myself!
Considering I could have gotten a whole bottle for £13 I was a bit annoyed.

If you're a small person, best avoid The Parlour. Recently had lunch here with some friends - the food was fine and our waitress smiley and helpful. Unfortunately though, I think the seating was designed by someone very tall as we all felt the tables were too high ... or perhaps the seats were too low. None of our party is particularly small but we felt we were reaching up to the table to eat; next time we'll ask for some cushions to sit on.

I was there for first and last time. Summing up, I wonder if the staff seeking ads say something like "Looking for useless, lazy people. For management positions rudeness also required".

Absolutely terrible food, service and the management are rude and surly!
Birthday lunch for 4. We all work in The Wharf and will not be returning. Wrong wine, then after 3 attempts the right white wine but tea temperature - waitress simply popped an ice cube in to cool it down!
Meat antipasto (nut free) came out with pistatio nuts in Mortadella (this was checked with waitress before ordering) - they don't do medium burgers because it is against the law so instead all have to consume well done slabs of black burger meat.
Dare you ask for more condiments - 3 times we asked for more oil and balsamic. when it did eventually arrive it was just balsamic!!!
We then complained and when the manager came over his first words after listening with his arms folded and his surly look were "what do you want me to do about it"...
There are so many lovely places in The Wharf we certainly won't be returning and if we can help it neither will any of the 1700 staff we have contact with in our office.

We were there some weeks ago and were delighted by a smiley waitress. We went back last week and asked to a waiter for the Spanish waitress. He told the Spanish one was a waiter, not a waitress. After telling him I was sure she was a girl, the waiter answered with very bad manners, telling that wearing long hair does not mean being a girl. He went without taking our order, and started to talk to another colleague, not attending to our efforts to be served. Finally, I stood up, went where the waiters were talking each other, and asked the bill for our drinks. After that, we enjoyed a tasty meal... at the Cat&Canary.
