Terrible, rude and slow staff! It wasn't busy and we waited a while to try and get the attention of any staff who blatantly ignored our existence and avoided eye contact and would rush away. We finally got the eye of one staff and he huffed and continued to blank us....all we wanted was a menu. We waited a while longer...still with no menu and decided that at this rate it would be dawn before we'd leave with a full stomach and decided to go to Wahaca where the service was top notch and we were given menus straight away and was served within 5 mins.

Looking at the previous reviews from this site and others its agreed that this is a place to avoid.

The worst service I have ever experienced. 20 mins to order, then 30 mins and a complaint to the waiter before our drinks and bar snack arrived - and the place was practically empty. Staff look and behave like half wits. This is the fourth time I have been (to eat) and the fourth time this has happened. More fool me for going back, but at least I know it wasn't a one off. Avoid at all costs!

The parlour was fun and inviting, greeted by a fun and busy atmosphere. The restaurant and bar are connected in an open plan design, however the restaurant seems to disguise any noise from the bar allowing diners to enjoy the meal. There was huge selection on the menu and the food was well explained when questioned and promptly brought out. The chicken was succulent and delicious my only fault was I could have had more. The deserts however made up for this. I was well served and offered a cocktail, made in front of me at the table, after dinner that was entirely appropriate and was left excited to go back. Excellent.

Dropped in on a Thursday night with a couple of colleagues for some after work drinks and were delighted by the entire experience. Atmosphere was great (quiet busy though), decor is quirky and innovative and the staff we're very helpful and friendly. After seeing some other customers leave the bar with outrageous looking cocktails we decided to try a couple ourselves and they're well worth a recommendation! Although we did have to wait for a while to be served (It was a thursday night in The Wharf, so I can somewhat understand) the cocktails were delicious and they have quite an extensive menu to pick from! We we're slightly apprehensive after reading some previous reviews but decided to check it out anyway and have returned a number of times since. Certainly worth dropping by if you're in the area!

Visited The Parlour with a large group visiting from Scandinavia recently. The group loved style of the bar / restaurant and also found the way in which the food was presented really quirky - something that they'd not seen before back home. The staff were attentive and food was excellent quality. I'll definitely be back in the near future!

I attended a function at The Parlour on Friday 16th Dec. An area was booked for 35 people. However, it barely suited 15 people and although over £600 was spent on food and drink, there was barely enough food for 10 people!

It seems as though they take as many bookings as they can, with no thought to how many people the place can hold. It just seems to me as though they want to make as much money as possible.

I complained that the area was not big enough and was told that it was a busy night! And when we said the food was inadequate, I was just told that it was expensive!

It's not a place I would recommend for large parties.

I will not be returning.

We booked for a party of 35 and even though the ambience and location were good the food and service was appalling. The area was too small and the food for 35 people barely fed 15 people, even though after complaining we were promised extra food.

I think they can get away with it because its a good location and people in the wharf can afford the extra price but I came away feeling thoroughly disappointed.

Its a lively place to go for a drink but thats about it!

reeeeaaally slow and inexperienced bar staff. silly prices. they also have a habit of taking your change at the bar as a tip without asking.

waiting for a pint is funny, it took the guy like 3 minutes to cork a wine bottle and pour 2 glasses of wine for the order before me. there were 2 other bar staff doing nothing at the time. the guy noticed I was sort of waiting and said something like we have a customer waiting but the other 2 staff just carried on chatting... you cant really help but get annoyed.

nice ambience in there though. nice location. lively place to go for a drink. but dont go there for food or good service. you will get neither (they can get away with it because its a good location and people in the wharf can afford the extra price). you can see from the other reviews everyone is saying the same thing.

Visited 24/8/11.

Overpriced, painfully slow service (4 people serving behind the bar and customers are 5 deep), with rude people. Not the best combo for a nice evening out.

To top it all off they add 12.5% service charge to your bill and then another 12.5% 'tip' on top!

25% on top of the cost of your drinks that you queue for and collect yourself - are you kidding me!

Check your bills !! Life's too short. Certainly won't be going back.
