Trattoria Sapori

I went here recently and I would not go again. I had a table seat next to the street side window and it was more than a little bit cold. The waiter spoke barely any English and was unable to understand my order which I made 3 times. To top it all I was charged service on my order of coffee and a cake and I had to fetch the cake for myself as well as fetch and pay my bill at the till. My friend had a substantial but bland mound of pasta.

I would say that for a local Italian place this is one of the best, the fact that you say it is a tad on the high price, well this is newington green, and the food is cooked to order, the pizza's are one of the best in London, and the home made pasta dishes ( not carbonara, thats not what i got ) is to die for.
Italian food is not what you think it is....

This place is very mixed. It replaced the notorious Relish, where a good idea was completely undermined by the absence of service. Sapori have managed to survive a bit longer, but I fear that they're starting to slide...
First, while the pizza is undboubtedly very good, the pasta doesn't seem to get the same attention. Some initial interesting ideas have been replaced with the lowest common denominators of carbonara and the like. A bit more imagination please. This is especially true of the previously welcome lunchtime set menu.
But it's the service that's the biggest problem. While everyone is always very nice, they don't seem to be particularly active at doing their jobs. On more than one occasion I've had to go to the counter to order or pay, and these were at times that the place wasn't busy. And a lovely waitress there is indeed lovely, but her nearly non-existent English and Italian surely undermine her prime function.
None of this would be quite as much a concern if the prices weren't a bit on the high side for somewhere local.
A bit more attention from management and staff -- and a decision about whether this is in fact a trattoria or a pizzeria with consolation pasta dishes would help.

I would say that this new Italian pizzeria and pasta and deli that has just open in my area is so great that I am telling all friends to go.
This Italians are teaching me one or two things about the Italian food that I have not seen around here for a long time. Only in Italy has the food captured my taste buds with a massive need to want more......
Their pizza has got to be the best in North London I am sure.
give it a try......
