The Haz is a great restaurant, with fanatic food and a great service. Always the same excellent quality. Great atmosphere, although a bit noisy lunching lunch times.

I went Haz years ago, when it first opened, and thought it had great food even if the restaurant was noisy and hectic. But like many London restaurants that have some initial success and then expand rapidly (Wagamama, Fish!, Carluccio's), it has lost its way during the expansion.
I went back tonight to the restaurant off Houndsditch in the City, which was the original and has now taken over additional space. The service was attentive but a little pushy (the type where they ask you so many times if you want something more that you get feeling you aren't spending enough....they poor the wine every time you take a sip and then ask if you want another bottle). But the real problem was the food: the fried prawns were so overcooked that they had become a tasteless mush. I don't think I have ever had a worse entree. Given that, I probably should not complain that the portions were small too, but they were (3 prawns for an entree!!?!). The bakla as a starter was OK but a bit bland.
It's a shame I went back because I had nice memories of Haz.

We went to Haz last night and had a brilliant time. It is the best Turkish restaurant we've ever been to. The service was quick and the waiter was very friendly. The food and drink was very reasonably priced but excellent quality. To start, I had backla which was very tasty with the lovely bread to go with it. For main course I had the lamb steaks and my partner had the stilton steak. Both were delicious as were the side dishes. Overall it was a really good evening and I would highly reccomend Haz.

To me, Haz is the best Turkish cuisine in Central London. I have been to Haz many times probably since they opened. I took many business associates, clients and many friend, in all my visits the food was very good and the service was excellent.
Although they are usually fully booked for lunch in weekdays, they are always friendly and serve quick. I also appreciate the staff who keeps remembering me after not visiting for a whole year.
All the meals are very close to the original Turkish receipts, no strange ingredients, no new invented sauces. Simple and delicious. I recommend them strongly if you are after a business lunch and anytime you want to eat good Turkish food.

As a concierge in a nearby 5* Hotel, I know a fair bit about local restaurants. I send many of our guests here and in 4+ years have never had any negative feedback, In fact people come back for reservations again and again. The food is excellent, and the only reason that it is so noisy is because it's so popular during lunch, being right under the RBS building. For a more quiet and relaxed dining experience at Haz try dinner. The grilled dishes are very good as are most of the starters, coupled with some excellent Turkish (yes Turkish!) red wine this makes for a great meal out.

The service is awful, despite my calling to confirm our booking they said I didn't have one when we got there then eventually found it, placing us right next to the open kitchen - be warned you will leave smelling like a kebab shop. The staff were unbelievably rude, shouting over the tables at each other, and as for the food, below average.

Disinterested staff who constantly put there arms in front of you while you're trying to eat to collect plates. We went there last night and were practically force fed our wine & water, ever time someone walked past they topped up the glasses especially some rotund bloke who was the manager i think and an expression i can only assume is a result of some very painful piles. We'd barely finished chewing our last mouthful before the plates were taken, the table next to has had to point out the the waiter that they were still eating their dinner so to leave the plates.
the service charge is included on the bill, i can only assume because they wouldn't get any tips otherwise?
Not good value really
Ordinary turkish food, nothing special
Unfriendly staff with no sense of how to do a good job (presumably following the manager's example)
lots of background noise
crowded with tables - NOT people
Not really allowed to enjoy the experience, we were hurried
Will never go there again, we have a local turkish restaurant in whetstone, n. london that is fantastic!

This restaurant is hidden away behind Bishopsgate. The food is quite good but nothing special. Expect typical Turkish nosh like grilled meat with rice and salad.
The restaurant is very popular and incrediably busy and noisy. They seem to want to squeeze in as many people into the reataurant as possible. The tables are far too close together, and it's difficult to have a private conversation when your elbows are nearly touching the strangers sitting on the table next to yours.

I wish i'd had the opportunity to go to Haz, unfortunately they seem unable to even deal with simple tasks such as taking table reservations.
I booked a table for my close friends birthday do. the guy on the phone sounded very disinterested, and to make sure, i made him read out the particulars of our booking.
On the evening in question, we turned up, only to find that they had no record of our reservation, and we ended up walking around in the freezing cold, trying to find a restaurant with space (which on the last Friday before xmas was tricky...)
I can't say what the restaurant is like, but I'd certainly look upon them as extremely unreliable, and one to avoid for special occassions....
