Millbank Spice is consistently good for food and efficient service. Highly recommended if you want traditional Indian with a few imaginative in-house additions. We go there often and are never disappointed. In fact, we're rather addicted and would much rather go there than to any of the much more expensive, upmarket Indians in London. There is a great choice of dishes, many traditional favourites, all done very well. The staff are usually very friendly and welcoming and everything runs like clockwork. One of the most consistently good restaurants of any type we have frequented.

Best "standard curry house" curry I've had in London for ages - excellent prawns dhansak-ed to perfection, and high quality chicken in an interesting green masala form. Very good value and friendly swift service.

The comment about being "shown the door" below could be because of their 2 doors - one on the corner which you're not supposed to use, and the main door on Vauxhall Bridge Road. Why they don't just lock the forbidden door, I don't know!

I felt I had to write to redress some of the negative reviews below. Two girlfriends and I had a very enjoyable evening here last Friday. I love my food and in my opinion Millbank Spice is definitely a cut above the standard curry house.

We ordered some Chef's specials not usually found on most menus, as well as the traditional favourites . I could really taste the spices in our King Prawn dish (I'm afraid I can't remember the name of it - Asahi?) which was dressed not too heavily in an well flavoured but original and unusual sauce with large butterflied King Prawns. No little frozen shrimpettes for us! Chicken Tikka Masala was creamy and tasty and unlike many Heinz Tomato based sauces that I have had in the past. Luckily we had some excellent Peshwari Nan at hand to mop it up.

Service started off brisk and a little curt, but I think this was no different to the standard of Asian efficiency found in most restaurants. In fact, we went on a major charm offensive to coax a smile out of our waiter; once he realised that we were enjoying the food and was there just to have a good night, he relaxed and became much more friendly

Highly recommended and we will definitely return. Extremely good value as well. Between three of us we had poppadums and a shared starter, 3 mains and 1 side, rice and nan, and 3 pints of beer for £22 each including tip.

My husband and I arrived at the restaurant for a dinner on the 18 July 2007.

We asked for a table for two. The waiter was abrupt & rude and said no.

Another waiter approached us and pointed us to the door.

At first I thought he was showing us another restaurant around the corner.

We were shocked to realize that we had just been showed the door with no explanation.

We will not be supporting this restaurant and they have just lost two potential customers.

We will let other people know about the awful manner in which we were treated.

I've popped into this delightful local Indian three times in the last few months and I have found it to be consistently good.

Decor is pleasantly modern - none of the old-school Tandoori House atrocious wallpapering or the such, just simple warm colours.

Service has been consistently good - not awe-inspiring, but then this is a local Indian not Le Gavroche, so one hardly expects it to bowl you over. Staff are charming and friendly, always willing to offer a recommendation or to commend you on your choice of food.

I must admit to not having investigated the wine list, but they serve large bottles of Cobra and that will generally fulfil the requirements for most patrons.

Food is superb - whilst the usual plethora of vindaloos, kormas and the like are available, it tends to be worth looking at the Chef's Specials - most notably is Karaki Lamb: an absolutely astoundingly tender lamb shank which has been curried with chickpeas (chana) - although I would recommend to ask for it with extra chilli, up to about Madras heat if you want to make it marginally more punchy. A number of the mild Chicken dishes are also well worth looking into - the use of saffron tends to be an indicator of a quality establishment, and this venue holds to that principle. If you're a fan of Tamarind they also do an intriguing sweet-and-sour style tamarind chicken.

Service is somewhat flaky and slow and the attitude of some of the staff is a bit off. On large groups, make sure that they don't miss any one off.

Not much choice for veggies, but the Paneer Shaslick is very good. Starter choice not great but Onion Bhajis of a good standard and not too oily which is a plus.
