Thursday, October 01, 2009 - It's a grand Victorian building, with many original features, including a solid darkwood bar dominating the drinking area at the front. Wooden panelling, saloon lights, velvet bar stools and autumnal colours give it a cosy feel...Every dish on the daily-changing menu sounds like the sort of thing a good contemporary home cook would relish making. Chef Simon Phelan used to work at Flaneur...Main courses included a shoulder of lamb with roast potatoes - this had deep, savoury flavours.

I've been here a couple of times for sunday lunch and it is great value and really big portions of good roast.

We came here on Sunday and I had roast chicken and the others had beef. The yorkshires are nice and homemade and everything was well done. The only minus was that only 4 potatoes were served per plate, so we had to order some more!!

Service was friendly, but sometimes a bit slow, but then they were very busy.

Definitely a good value roast £9.95 and a great atmosphere in a stylish pub! Very pleased to have such a place in Tooting.

I first visited The Antelope soon after opening. It was good, but with a limited menu and a half finished kitchen. Now that the kitchen is fully open and offering a full menu I went back last night.

I have to say the food was excellent. I started with leeks and chorizo - the leaks could have been cooked slightly longer but the chorizon and pan juices were delicious. For main I had a goats cheese, rocket and spinach risotto. This was a triumph, simple but beautifully seasoned, with a loose texture and perfectly cooked rice.

My wife had a steak which again was very good. The meat is well sourced and very flavorsome.

For desert we shared a blackcurrant and white chocolate fool. It looked unspectacular but was quite good.

In terms of the atmosphere, it was fairly buzzing for a Wednesday night with most of the tables occupied.

All in all a great place.
