Bakko

I am surprised that no-one has mentioned one of the great advantages of Bakko - it is totally non-smoking! So as well as eating delicious food you can also breathe clean air! It means for us, who can't cope with a smoky atmosphere, that there is actually a local restaurant we can visit.

This was our first introduction to what will soon be our new area of London; the north east. We were delighted. Muswell Hill seems lovely and we’ll certaintly be reporting on more eateries in the area.

There’s a wonderful attention to detail, fun, and opulence! Just little things that make your meal far more enjoyable. Ordering a desert between two; it arrived neatly sliced, so Billy and I didn’t need to fight over it. Turkish coffee comes with a selection of Turkish delights.

The staff are attentive and good-humoured; cheeky but just on the right side of obnoxious (a fine line). A slight slip up by the waiter in delivering food is highlighted as comedy and adds to a very relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

The food is fairly straight forward fair; we had kofte and iskander; both excellent, filling and fresh from the grill.

Very nice. Very nice indeed.

Bakko is the only place to go to get quality turkish food. The mezes alone are to die for, as for the main meals well if youve got enough room left after the mezes theyre great to. Both the lamb and the chicken melt in your mouth. As for the atmosphere of the restaurant , it is friendly, romantic, cosy, and like no where else I have been before. I would deffinately recommend this place to everyone even if you dont think you like turkish food, you should deffinately give it a try.

Stewart Morris, you're a tosser!! I've been here a few time and each time was most enjoyable. This restaurant is fantastic, the food is great, the staff are amazingly friendly and very helpful. Go for the steak or the Sea Bass - both are out of this world.

Go and enjoy the good food, good wine and polite staff. Go now!!

The other reviews on here seem a bit over-enthusiastic to me.

While Bakko is an acceptable Turkish restaurant, it isn't a patch on the ones around Harringay Green Lanes (great examples being Antepliler and Baliklama), which offer better food and more authentic Turkish atmosphere at lower prices.

The service was a bit unfriendly and we felt that our request for a jug of tap water (along with two courses and wine!) was met with confusion followed by condescension.
