Thalassa Seafood Restaurant & Bar

My husband and I ate here for the first time last night. Before we had our Mains, we already knew we loved the place. Our scallop starter was so excellently prepared and delicious. The food is of the highest standard and despite an impressive full house, we never had to chase a waiter for our food or drink. Friendly, helpful and smiling staff - everyone looks like they're having a good time, which is genuinely contagious. We'll be going back!

We made the fatal mistake of giving this place a second chance after going over a year ago and having a disastrous time. They still cant seem to get the service right on a weekend. We were left waiting for a table of 4 for over half an hour, then we had to wait an additional 45mins before we got anything to eat! The waiters don't really know how to talk to customers especially when service is delayed as much as this.

The food was average when it eventually arrived, nothing worth waiting almost 2 hours for. You would think after 2 years they would have managed to sort themselves out by now. I don't know about change of management, the same boss was there when we went over a year ago, I can only presume its to take the heat off from the bad reviews other diners have written.

Its a shame, this place looks great, but thats about it. Wont be going back again in a hurry.

LOVE Thalassa the food is fresh, the owner is fabulous & we are welcomed with open arms each time we visit. A jewel in the local area.

I treated my boyfriend to a meal at the Thalassa for his birthday. The food was excellent as well as the service. My starter of scallops wrapped in parma ham was to die for!

Absolutely love this restaurant! I would love to go more often but then only going every so often makes it more special. The fish meze is always lovely and it means we can taste different fish that may never have considered otherwise.

I took my mother her for her birthday.

The waiter was rude and brash, almost like a very rude Del boy. He was so rude I started laughing considering he was there to serve us.

Will never go back.

My parents were shocked. To be honest, we wanted to leave as soon as we arrived.

We were not sure whether or not to try this restaurant after reading some of the reviews but, I'm really glad we did!

We ate some of the best seafood dishes we have ever eaten and thoroughly enjoyed our Sunday afternoon lunch.

As we eat out at least twice a week we have had our fair share of dining disasters......this definitely was not one of them.

Regular visitors we will be!

A group of sixteen of us went here on saturday night for a celebration. Because it was a big group we preordered our food several days in advance in order to make service for them easier. The starters arrived reasonably quickly and were of a good standard, although no bread was offered even for those ordering soup. The drinks were painfully slow to come, we waited about 30 minutes for five cokes to arrive and the water never did arrive.

After our starters were cleared we waited 50 minutes beforre the first main course arrived, which was a grilled lump of chicken breast with a few chips, the bed of roasted vegetables which was described on the menu was nowhere to be seen, on complaining we were provided with a dish of steamed vegetables which arrived after we had finished eating. The seafood medley was cold and dried out, and the wasabi mashed potato was lumpy and tasteless. Two of our guests only got their meal after most of us had finished.

When we complained we were told very brusquely that it was a busy night and they were short staffed, When I asked why they were still taking walk in customers if they couldn't cope with this amount of business the waitress told me I should understand their problems.

We left without having dessert or coffee, and although they took a significant amount off of the bill, at no point did anybody apologise for our spoilt evening, in fact as we left the manageress told me I was rude and my daughter and her boyfriend never to come back. We were never rude or abusive at any point during the evening so this was completely uncalled for.

This restaurant clearly cannot manage large groups at one time particuarly at tthe weekends so would not reccoment you come here with any large parties.
