our review

In 2009, the team from Rosa's in Shoreditch moved into this Dean Street site to run a pop-up cafe called Noodles. Now, it's a fully functioning Soho sister site, serving classic Thai curries, stir-fries and salads. The all-wood interior might be a bit Ikea for some but the prices are low and, so far, the food tastes great.

TimeOut

TimeOut - 3/5

Thursday, April 08, 2010 - Tom yum soup with prawns was a little tame, though those with a more sensitive reaction to chilli heat may find it just fine...What surprised, however, was the chef's deft hand at the grill - stick to the grilled meats along with a few side dishes and you'll walk away happy. Tender cutlets of lamb in nestled in a (not very) spicy Thai aubergine salad were cooked a point; ditto a main course of chargrilled marinated pork neck, which came smoky and sweetly caramelised around the edges.

My dad and I went there on a sunny Saturday afternoon and it was surprisingly quiet. The restaurant interior is very charming, a bit small but it does not make you unconfortable. The decor is neutral and minimalist which suits my taste.

The service was very professional, always smiling and very attentive of our needs without being pushy.

The food was a bit of a hit and miss, the thai spring rolls were delicious while the thai fish cakes a bit rubbery and tasteless. My dad´s pumpkin curry was very good, but my Pad Thai a bit bland.

Overall our experience was positive and we would return. Bear in mind that the prices are a bit high compared to other nice thai restaurants around Soho.

Wife and I have been to this place 5 times now and it really has not disappointed, we love our Thai food and coming back from a recent trip to Thailand this place is as authentic as it gets! Service is amazing the sweet lady that serves us remebers us and our favourites from the menu (for a Soho restaurant this is bordering on a miracle) after only a couple of visits. Have to say if you are going make sure you seat upstairs as downstairs can get a bit noisy! Still, its our favourite Thai in London....

Went here for the first time a few weeks ago. What a lovely little place. It always makes me happy to see a restaurateur who understands their customers who don't just want good food, but also a nice place to eat and socialise.

Food was great and arrived quickly. We had Thai curries. Staff were friendly. It's a really cute place. Feels like sitting inside a wooden dollhouse or a cigarbox. :)

One small nag was that on the day that we were there, the front door was open (because of the hot weather) and all the smoke from the smokers at the pub next door blew inside. That's only a very small thing though as I particularly dislike the smell of other people smoking while I am enjoying my dinner :)

I'd definitely go here again.

As regulars at Busaba Ethai we decided to have a change and try out Rosa's in Dean Street. I really loved the food-it was light, fresh and balanced. The service was lovely and the only thing I didn't appreciate was the music beating away in the background.

We had a variety of dishes-the satay, fresh spring rolls and calamari - and then on to green curry, laab and aubergine curry. They were all great, though my companion thought the green curry lacked kick - it was perfect for me

All in all a good addition to Soho - good quality, reasonably prices and lovely service

Lovely place, liked the fact that they offer fresh spring rolls and laab. we shared the rolls and the thai calamari as a starter - really good, and appreciated fact that the calamari weren't greasy at all, just delicious! As a main I had the soft shell crab salad, a touch too hot for me but very, very nice all the same. I am definitely coming back here.

As real lovers of Rosa's, we're so pleased to see it's younger sister opening in the West... even if it's starting as a pop-up we're sure to visit!

A Rather Unusual Chinaman

A Rather Unusual Chinaman

Sunday, October 31, 2010 - My main of Nuar Kwang Pad Prig Thai Dam had my tongue in a twist when I tried to order, but had my taste buds humming when I got to taste it. Stir fried slices of venison drenched in a peppery sauce were tender and quite punchy, I rather enjoyed it...I was pleasantly surprised by Rosa's. At 40 quid all in, it's pretty affordable and you get some decent food for your money. The service was amiable and as we drank our tea and chatted for a while, we weren't hassled and were left to our own devices.
