what the critics say
Friday, March 05, 2010 - As it should be, the crust is thin, stretched by hand and spun in the air by chefs. It is crispy on the edges and at the very bottom, soft in the middle, nuked at 485 degrees in a wood-fired, domed oven especially imported from Naples. Tomato sauce: hard to fault. Toppings: sparse but joyous (ie the inverse of Dominos). We washed it down with some of the short but adventurous organic wine list: a very good prosecco, of which they have precisely three cases in stock, and a fresh and cherry-fruit-laden dolcetto. The grappa di prosecco is brilliant too.
Wednesday, December 23, 2009 - The pizzas? Well, they're good - but not quite as good as those at the original. We love a bit of blistering on our crust, but some parts were simply just burnt. We plumped for a number 4 (a tomato-based pizza with an ominously salty combination of capers, olives and anchovies) that was truly an as-salt on the palate...However, a variation of an old favourite, with gorgeous Brindisa chorizo (releasing squelches of paprika-heavy flavour), tomato and mozzarella, was the best pizza; a reminder of how great ingredients are central to the Franco Manca experience.

Franco Manca (Chiswick)
Good:best pizza in the uk, without doubt.
Bad:service
Excellent : organic/natural wine that only italian (and french) people drink at very low price. Coffee is also great.
Average: Beer, Sam Smith, not my choice.
Bad: no pudding, no Deli. Could we have a Caprese or similar, for the very choc addicts. In brixton we go to Franco Manca Deli after the pizza but here?
Good: very cheap.
Average: boring location
Good: the design

Franco Manca (Chiswick)
Excellent pizzas. Amazingly fresh dough and some classic Italian toppings.
Only one downside, they need to hire another waiter. One waiter on a Saturday night is a recipe for disaster. Secondly please add coke to the menu!!

Franco Manca (Chiswick)
Such a welcome addition to Chiswick! I visited the original in Brixton a few times and loved the food, hated the vinegary wine, but for pizza near home I usually stick to La Tarantella who are still very good.
The new Franco Manca has only been open for a week or so and this does show in the service which is a bit slow and uninformed, but I can tell its going to be popular. The pizzas are excellent as you would expect with good quality, generous toppings on a crisp and slightly chewy base with just the right amount of blackening on the bottom. Prices are very reasonable too, perfect for feeding the kids and their friends in the holidays!

what the bloggers say
Pig Pig's Corner
Friday, June 04, 2010 - We tried pizza numbers 1 and 3 which were the margherita (tomato sauce, mozzarella, basil) and the latter was essentially the same as the former but with Gloucester Old Spot ham as well. Admittedly, the dough is great, non greasy and the base is wafer thin. The praises stop there though as the toppings are simple and to me, rather tasteless and the wafer thin dough ended up getting a bit soggy in the middle...Admittedly, the prices were really cheap for London.
Will Eat For Money
Thursday, December 17, 2009 - I ordered the number 6: a Neapolitan marinara which consisted of their signature sourdough base topped with tomatoes, garlic and oregano. I decided to forego the addition of buffalo mozzarella due to a recent decision to cut out all dairy and in all honesty, the flavour of the pizza wasn't lacking in any way because of this. The sauce was, well, very tomatoey and well seasoned. The oregano and garlic (rather harsh) adding to the complexity, while the three or four leaves of fresh basil on top rounded things off. My main problem with the pizza was regarding the base...
