Good food, great location, nice atmosphere, service appalling. We still go here most weekends as breakfasts are fab but find it amazing the service remains so bad.

Went here for dinner on Friday and was really impressed. Very friendly service and pleasant candle-lit atmosphere. Only downers were that we were the only table in there for most of the evening and they could do with slightly more comfy chairs! But the view of the lido is gorgeous and it's really entertaining watching people doing exercise classes in the gym opposite when you're stuffing your face.
Food ticks all the trendy boxes, seasonal, locally sourced etc. Pretty short menu that changes daily. Had a nice starter to share of potted wild rabbit with sourdough toast and picalilli - all v fresh and good strong flavours. Mains were a beautiful stew of venison and prunes with mash, and duck confit with cavalo nero and saute potatoes - the latter were more boiled than fried, but otherwise no complaints. Desert was a pear tart with cream - very, very good, though would have been nicer heated through if we were being picky. Prices decent - mains around £10 - £13, starters/puds £4 -£6.
Overall, we'll be back, and we'll be bringing friends. Hope they can make it through the winter though - Herne Hill desperately needs more decent restaurants (this place is everything the cafe under the railway bridge should be, but isn't). We should support this one!
