I love this Japanese restaurant. As a vegan vegetarian, the chef makes me tempura without egg as part of the Deluxe Vegetarian platter which has been consistently delicious for the last 3 years since I started eating there. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and the ambience is cosy and informal. Great for catching up with friends or eating alone. Thoroughly recommended. It is only 2 minutes walk from South Kensington tube and the price is reasonable compared to other Japanese restaurants in the heart of London,

Please prevent yourself for a disappointment....
I wanted a simple quick sushi and checking the menu outside decided to give it a try.
Inside is small and simple. The place is def not run by Japanese but Chinese or Korean people.
3 waitresses for such a small place seems a lot but hey. Was funny as if they try hard not to make eye contact with the customers...
I ordered a small salmon/ tuna sashimi (4 salmon, 3 tuna pieces), agadashi tofu and one tempura hand roll, plus a hot sake.
The sashimi was not fresh... Sorry but really was a dead fish for a while...
Hand roll had mayonnaise in it (??) and the tofu not tasty.
So in short... I will not go back...
Oh and the bill, 32.20 GBP. Way too much for this.
Sushi should be fresh and simple, how difficult is that.

I went there the other day for the first time and must say I would have rather gone hungry then spend my money there. It's run by Chinese people and it even looked like the 'sushi chef' was Chinese, having saw him converse with the other staff in what sounded like Chinese.
Though not wanting to judge the place on its front the food was simply terrible. I had tonkatsu ramen which was simply an offense to the real tonkatsu I've had in Japan - now I don't expect miracles out here in London but it was completely different to the tonkatsu ramen, nothing resembled it at all. The soup was weak and tasted more like watery miso soup and the meat was just shredded pork - not served like it usually is which is in slices not battered. I then had a gyoza side dish which was average and had half the amount of meat you'd get anywhere else.
My girlfriend then had the chicken katsu curry which came with an inadequate amount of rice and a very average sauce. It left us both wishing we'd made the effort to go into central to try our usual Japanese restaurant, Ryo.
Atmosphere wise it was nice, not too bad at all but nothing to rave about whilst the staff were friendly enough.
