The good thing about this place is the friendly service you get from the waiters. Apart from that, the decor is awful (but still clean enough!) and this place needs some serious refurbishing. The food was even worse! Aren't the Greeks supposed to be good at making Houmous. Theirs was tasteless and I even felt embarrassed to put salt and pepper on it. I should have bought my Houmous from Waitrose or Tescos and eaten at home! Quite overpriced too for the "prison" food that's offered.

I was impressed by the reviews for this restaurant, so my husband and I went there one lunchtime.

It's a very small and uninspiring restaurant, more like someone's converted (small) house. It had some very basic features, although the tablecloths were clean and it was warm inside.

We ordered Taramasolata and Tzatsiki to start, and I ordered Stuffed Pepper and my husband ordered Dolmades for a main course. I was really looking forward to the food, given the reviews here. However, neither of us were impressed. I was particularly disgusted that £12 for a Stuffed Pepper paid for one of the smallest green peppers I have ever seen, and the filling was very heavy on white rice, along with the minced pork, and it was not even hot enough. The tomato sauce which accompanied it was not particularly inspiring. The potatoes brought with it were OK but there was no other veg or accompanying salad, so it didn't seem like a complete meal. The dolmades were OK but my husband didn't think they compared with real Greek food.

The taramosolata was creamy but the tstasiki was pretty tasteless. In short, I've eaten better food I've cooked myself or bought from a supermarket!

We obviously didn't go there in an evening, but I can't imagine the place being improved upon, bearing in mind it is so small inside I can't imagine how any entertainment can fit inside it!

The waiting staff were attentive and polite, but we have eaten in such better restaurants in Greek Street and Soho that this just didn't compare in any way.

I am sorry to have to leave such a poor review, I had thought it would be amazing and was planning to take my children there for a meal if it was. There's no way I'd consider it for a moment, and no way I can recommend it to anyone. It seemed overpriced because of the size of the pepper served (they should have served two at that size). Another slightly disturbing factor was a look at the side table containing salt and pepper and other condiments - the contents looked as though they had come out of the Ark! They need to consider touches like this if they want to draw people in, not put people off.

This is one of my favorite restaurants of all time. My husband and I were frequent patrons in the seventies and have tried to visit at least once on each trip back to the UK. I haven't been to the UK in at least 7 years but am returning in February and can hardly wait to taste the delicious mousaka and see the smiling waiters again!

I have been a regular for the past 25 years, most of the staff have been there longer, very friendly. The food is great, my favourite is the lamb kleftico.Frequented by advertising , media, theatrical, and members of parliament. A London landmark.

This place is great! Friendly waiters; flavoursome, tasty food; generous portions; excellent value for money. I've been coming here for ages and I know it has lots of regulars who return for the good food and welcoming atmosphere. A real hidden gem.

Having moved to London from Greece last year I am not familiar with many greek restaurants in this town. I had dinner with my husband at the Hellenic Restaurant whish is very close to my work. Mixed fillings really: too touristic for my taste, no particular atmosphare. The food was not great, below average I would say. Oh, and the manager/owner, perhaps, saluted everybody at their tables apart from us !! Who knows, he might not be bothered keeping any greek customers at his restaurant. We felt quite unwelcome.
