Taste of Lewisham

This is one of the best restaurants I know, and amazingly good value for money. The food is all quite spicy but this doesn't overpower it, and the range of spicing and textures is just great.

They serve a very cheap buffet most evenings which has a varied range of vegetarian curries that can be supplemented from the main menu but are sufficient in themselves. The coconut chutneys are delicious, and my favourite main menu dish is the velvety egg curry. On Fridays they also do a mean Thali.

Food is all cooked fresh, so much so that you can never predict exactly how much of the menu will be on offer: if you are prepared to be flexible in this respect, there is always something good on the menu. Service is friendly and this is a definite slow food place so best not to go in a rush.
