Dishoom was a big disappointment, we had a booking for 2 and we had to wait 2 hours for our table. We should have just left knowing that the food was not going to be as great as it claims to be. Our server was over stretched managing a number of tables so again we had to wait to be served. Our mains arrived before starters and drinks just arrived as we ordered our tea. The food wasn't exceptional- cold starters. Complete disorganization. The evening was nothing but a big let down, Dishoom is a indian restaurant trying to claim west end prestige but better off being located on your local high street- at least with high street restaurants you know what to expect.

I went there yesterday for an anniversary meal, and we weren't disappointed. Friendly staff and delicious food in large tapas style portions. Unlike traditional UK Indian restaurants, they rely more on taste than heat for their food, which was greatly appreciated.
A couple of dishes each was plenty, plus some Indian-style chips, and couple of great desserts. They have Indian and European crowd-pleaser desserts, so plenty of choice. Interesting and unusual decor (though presumably not unusual if you've ever been to a Bombay café before), though perhaps a little loud for my liking - could do with some noise dampening.
Overall, then - a great restaurant, highly recommended, though perhaps not perfect for a romantic meal because of the volume.

It was first visit for me and might be last. I am not saying because it was horrible, but i am saying it was ok.
I think atmosphere was good. They try to make it vintage and same time modern, pub type seating and food portion is bit small and over all food experience couldn’t make impression on me.
As price was per dice might seem cheaper but altogether it’s not when you will be ordering grill portion as starter, then main and side to accompany all together it might be 20 to 24 pound per person.
As per location you have option to go some other good Indian restaurant like The Red fort, Chowki, Masala Zone or Mela etc. so you might try to avoid this place. Special for the day “matter paneer” pea and cottage cheese look horrible so as it taste as well.
Service was good but if place could not fulfil your appetite that wouldn’t help.
I think owner need to think bit harder to choose what they really want to do with the place because of location it might go on but it could not achieve what this restaurant actually can.

I enjoyed our meal here. The service was excellent. The food was good...not outstanding but i still think this place could be worth a second visit.
It's great that it's open all day...and the portions are a decent size. I loved the cafe crisps.
The bottle of Cotes Du Rhone Blanc was excellent value and went well with the dishes...grilled masala prawns, vegetable biryani and the calamari.
The atmosphere of the place works and would be a great venue for large groups.

Dropped into Dishoom on a cold and windy night after a movie in Leicester Square. The decor is definitely good, with low vintage looking bulbs hanging from the ceiling over the tables, dark wood furniture and an open kitchen.
The menu is nicely designed, but it does not offer a huge variety of options on the mains and for the meat sections, it's mostly chicken and lamb. We were presented with three chutneys which im sure were enjoyable if we had had anything to eat them with (poppadums?). Our mains arrived - the portions are tiny (two sheesh kebabs, with a tiny amount of 'salad'); ricewise, there is only one option of plain rice on the menu. The lamb kebabs and the chicken tikka were good, but sort of average. A single glass of wine was very expensive (£5.90 for Pinot Grigio); Service is quite disorganised: twice we were presented with dishes for another table and we had to catch their attention to get the bill. Ok, but nothing amazing.

Ive now eaten at Dishoom twice - once for dinner and once (believe it or not) for breakfast. Dinner was an excellent combination of spice, elegance and taste. This is no curry house by any means and, given the quality, the prices are extraordinarily low. The real revelation, though, was breakfast. I've never been to an Indian restuarant for breakfast before - perhaps for obvious reasons. But this is no ordinary breakfast. Wonderful asian themed classics are available and my 'sausage sandwich' - a fresh naan wrapped around delcious cumberland chipolatas and stuffed with fresh coriander and a sweet, pungent chilli jam, was an absolute joy. Together with my real mint tea (fresh leaves - none of your tea-bags) and a wonderful smoothie made of banana, cocunut milk, oats and cumin this represented a breakfast taste experience unrivalled in London. Breakfast is normally so boring - either an artery jamming 'full english' or a variation on the 'contintental' - functional but never really exciting. In this respect, Dishoom has re-defined the breakfast. I'm going back for sure.

Very cool - loved this place. The atmosphere and vibe were excellent. We went with a good friend from Mumbai who loved all the references - especially to the Parsee Cafes - and was constantly smiling at a detail here or there. Lamb chops succulent and tasty, biryani delicious, grilled prawns really good. Service possibly a little over-attentive, but will probably settle down a bit in due course. The shaved ice desserts apparently a great reference to something from Mumbai beaches. Try it, it's really great for a casual meal out with great atmosphere. Also - somehow - doesn't take itself too seriously - it's a fun place.

Food is ok...I wouldn't say great and I certainly would not say authentic irani food. I am parsi and Im from Bombay so I know what I'm talking about!!!
I ordered the berry pulao....the rice had not been cooked properly and the quantity of berries left much to be desired. The portions are quite small as well.
I did like the daal though...but nothing irani about that!!!
Location is great in Covent Garden and the restaurant is well done up..but you can get far better Indian fare in London...
