We love the Orchard, it is a ray of light in a slightly grubby bit of London. Really friendly staff, buzzy atmosphere and excellent bistro-style food. Steak and chips are always delicious.

My partner and I went there on Sunday, hoping to buy lunch. It was quite early and there were very few customers present. There were three people serving. We stood by the bar patiently waiting for some attention for several minutes, but nobody met our eye, or said, "sorry, be with you in a minute", or acknowledged our existence in any way. We left, astonished at the sheer rudeness and lack of professionalism. We live in the same street, and so could have become regular customers, but will never go there again, and will be sure to tell our friends to avoid it.

I've been coming to The Orchard for ages and really like the place. The staff are excellent, the food is tasty and well priced and the atmosphere is brilliant. I'm not sure if the other reviewers are expecting silver service or something, this place is a gastro pub and not a restaurant. It is busy, lively and noisy and thats part of the appeal.
I had a Sunday roast the other week and although I did have to wait half an hour, the staff told me of the wait when I ordered so that was ok. The food was great, nice big portion and beef was nice and pink in the middle.
I'm definately going to keep coming to this place to enjoy a pint or two and some food and enjoy the atmosphere and friendly staff.

The staff in here are horrendous. Very rude and not very attentive. The food is ok but it gets very busy and is quite often dirty. Plates are piled one on top of the other by waiters and you are made to feel uncomfortable for taking your time over your over-priced meal.
Last time I went in there I waited an hour for a Sunday roast to arrive.

Lovely space, much needed in this area. I'm forever hopeful of having something wonderful to eat, maybe I'm too fussy, other people seem to enjoy it. The wine list could do with an overhaul (very expensive for not very good grape). The Sunday roast looks good but please can you put on something a bit more appetising for non meat eaters: the butternut sqaush salad is bad! That said, will probably venture there later, after lunch, for a beer.

Went to The Orchard at 6.00 on Sunday. Most usual items not offered as they do Sunday lunch "with all the trimmings". All beef finished so had chicken. Meat fine but roasties and Yorkshires appeared to have been cooked at about 10,00am and have been hanging about forlornly since. Even if late (kitchen closed at 7.00) if you offer food it should be more palatable than this. This is a local for us and we usually enjoy the food and charming service, so be warned - don't go for a meal on Sunday after about 1.30! Even when we complained about shortcomings all we got was a condescending smile. I hate to be negative as The Orchard is a shining light in an area without many good venues, but this will not do!

I love this place, although must confess to having the slight bias of being a local resident.
I had a perfect, and very reasonably priced, risotto here the other evening. It was washed down with a wine glassful of something velvety and red and rounded off with a ginormous slice of cheesecake. Setting was cosy, comfy and convivial. Service was both serious and smiling. And there's wi-fi.
