Casaba Meze & Shisha Bar

Casaba has once again managed to turn bad into good. Having visited them on many occasions over the years, my regular shisha den with friends before the smoking ban, that it is now a Turkish Deli.
They have manged to continue the great service and amazing selection of their meze's, introduced many more traditional sweets, fresh breads and Turkish coffee, which can be eaten in or taken away.
This place is a hidden treasure, authentic and fresh Turkish experience. I would highly recommend people to go and see it for them self. I take my friends their all the time and they are always supprised. I wish them all the best, I think a Turkish deli was just what we needed on Essex road.

With the UK's smoking ban looming, this place was (perhaps unsurprisingly) full on Saturday night. The unassuming - and rather ugly - entrance belied this shisha bar's charming interior, and the four of us were perfectly comfortable sat round the low-slung tables. Meze was despatched quickly and, although tasty, the portions were a little on the small side. Having said that, the wine was reasonably priced, the shisha the perfect digestif and the service impeccable. Well done, Casaba.

A gem amid the rough, the atmosphere of this small establishment is marred only by the view out the windows being dominated by a fried chicken shop. But look the other way, at the skeletal wood sculptures on the walls and the soft cushions for seating around low tables, and this is about as good as it gets.
We were pleased to discover that, unlike many Turkish restaurants, they serve alcohol, and more pleased still that the wide variety of authentic cuisine is delicious. Afterwards, we finished off our wine with a cherry, mandarin and apple hookah - fantastic!
