i wanted to suprise my partner with an amazing dinner. after reading the reviews i was a bit worried but thought the view looked gorgeous so i booked.
this was a truly magical night, the food was perfect, my partner said it was one of those meals that you dont need to do anything to!
the view was so beautiful. it made us feel so special and the staff were amazing.
if you want to spoil yourself this is definitely the place to do it. Magical!

I always take a look at the reviews other people give a place to try and get an insight before I go there. In this case they were mixed. I've now been to Paramount for myself and I have to say that as with everything in life you never really know until you go there for yourself to find out. Stunning views, amazing service, great food. All genuinely top notch. But like I said - it's always best to find out for yourself.

Booked in as part of the London Food Festival lunch special for a group of 6.. turned up and decided we would enjoy the views on a few drinks first.. waiters were quite pushy to order drinks and when we ordered less than the number of people we had, was met with sarcastic remarks..
Onto the lunch, they gave us the brunch menu (it was 2pm) and was told that the LFF special was not available on the weekends although it was booked with them and confirmed with my CC and the place was pretty much empty..
They kept pushing us to see the brunch menu which I was not impressed with and again met with sniggering waiters and acrimonious comments. After making a complaint about this, was finally given the LFF menu to order and throughout the ordeal waiters have been the rudest ones I've ever met with simple things like the butter tray thrown briskly onto the table..
View's are great, but not worth the rudest service Ive ever experienced on offer at this pretentious dig..

I had dinner at the Paramount restaurant last night for my 41st birthday.
I have to say that the experience was less than great. Not even average. Shoddy would be a better description for a place that, I suppose, thinks it is vaguely high class.
The maitre or maybe he was the coat check guy (who knows?) appeared to be an arrogant man who seemed to think that we were not worthy. However, as he was stuck by the door with the coats all night he didn't bother us except when we were waiting for cocktails in the bar area when he all but demanded to know whether we were going to our table or going to the viewing gallery - this is after he suggested a drink at the bar before going to the table. I said we'd pop up and be down in a minute. He sneered and left.
I had requested a window table but none was available according to this person so after going to the table we realised we were right by the waiter station and entrance/corridor to the kitchen and in the middle of everything - so non- stop passers-by.
The view was fantastic. A table for 2 by the window right next to us came available after about 20 minutes but no offer was made to move us to that even though we had not even had our starters yet. That table remained empty for the rest of the night! So I don't know why the maitre did not say to us relax and enjoy your cocktails and a window table will be available in 20 mins!
My wife being Spanish commented that there were no place settings of any kind. No table cloth or piece of material even for the plate. The menu was printed on a flimsy piece of paper. Her comment was "Even Wagamama has a better menu!"
We wanted to order some wine so i asked the waiter whether they had a verdejo (a type of grape) wine on the list. I couldn't see one but just wanted to make sure as my wife loves that type. He didn't know what verdejo was (fair enough) but there was no sommelier to offer further help. So we opted for an alabarino which is a nice grape too. But on the whole the waiter knew little about the wine list.
My wife ordered the duck and foie gras terrine to start. I ordered nothing for a starter as there was nothing that really appealed. I would have liked some bread but none was offered.
According to my wife the terrine was bland. We waited for our mains. which were trio of pork and saddle of rabbit. Still no bread.
No refills on the wine. So we had to pour our own wine from an ice bucket which is no problem for me bit you'd expect at a place like this they would do it for you. Normally they are refilling non-stop - this was the complete opposite.
I asked for some bread and it arrived some time later like it had just come out of the microwave. Hard and chewy on the outside and steaming hot inside. The butter looked like it had been left out all day - a dark mottled orange.
Three waiters stood about 2 feet from us chatting about their lives, amongst themselves. A bit overbearing when they had the whole place to stand in and not really acceptable in a place like this as it was intrusive.
Still no refills on the wine. The mains arrived. Rabbit was okay if a little small and the rabbit croquette had lots of bones in it so I was not able to finish it. The trio pf pork was overall bland and chewy/over cooked but one part had some decent flavours trying to get out.
On the whole very average for the price and supposed sophistication..
A bald man came over and refilled our drinks for the first and only time. He could have been the real maitre, who knows? He was the only other person not in uniform and appeared to be in control in the distance. Whereas moustached man was just showing people to tables then disappearing.
The menus arrived for dessert. They were almost thrown down in front of us! I asked a couple of questions about the desserts but the poor guy explaining them could not pronounce the ingredients properly so we passed as nothing sounded really exciting. My wife just ordered a coffee as I wanted to leave asap.
That came and then after many attempts to get any sort of attention I finally managed to ask for the bill even though moustached man and bald guy walked past several times ignoring me. For a place that was virtually empty there was very poor service. No more refills on our wine.
The bill came and they had added 12.5% discretionary service. I asked to have that removed. There was the usual fuss by the waiter but the maitre or whoever was in charge did not come over to ask us what was wrong.
So, his lack of action ended up penalising his serving staff for the overall shoddy experience as he did not even bother to find out what was wrong.
The bill came to 125 after service was deducted. For that price you expect a vaguely decent experience. Not here. We left. We will not be back.
Recommended to people for the view, nothing else. But you cannot get to see the view unless you book to eat. Or become a member but this place is pretty basic as a members club. Just one floor mainly taken up by the restaurant.
Delusions of grandeur. A shame really. We can only hope that this place is taken over soon and made into a worthwhile place to visit.

Lunch here on a beautiful June day was far more about the stunning view than the food. Service and decor are both smooth and unobtrusive but I can only describe the fixed price lunch as adequate and no better than your average gastro pub. The excellent warm bread is accompanied with delicious butter but the nicely presented flaked smoked mackerel salad was rather uninteresting (bagged leaves perhaps?) and the beef rump and chips OK but not worth rushing back for. The value offered is reasonable considering the location although steep drinks prices tilt the balance towards pricey.

My husband and I had a lovely dinner here recently. The food, especially the dessert, was excellent and the service was attentive from start to finish. It it quite pricey and the bill does add up if you order a good bottle of wine, but we felt it was worth it as a treat before the theatre. The view over London is lovely at night.
With regard to the comment below, you can drink in the bar if you have booked for dinner.

NB - We tried to go for drinks and bar food at the bar last night. They wouldn't let us in, it is ONLY the restaurant which is now open to the public apparently. A lot of review sites are being misleading with this information.

My partner took me here for a pre-theatre cocktail and some bar snacks recently. It was a lovely surprise and, as you would expect, the atmosphere and views are stunning. (If you can time your visit for sunset, do!)
I have marked low for service as we felt one of the staff was a bit short with us. Of course, it isn't cheap but it was well worth it for the romantic experience. London's skyline might not compare to the one back home in NYC but it certainly charmed us.
