I eat at sagar quite often, and normally pretty happy, but my last meal there was very very disappointing. I eat south indian food almost every day, so imagine my shock when my aloo papdi chaat came without any potatoes, and the papdi was not just not authentic but very stale.
I was upset that even though I returned the dish after the first bite it was still included on my bill!
The idlis i had were alright, but the sambar seroiusly lacked flavour.
When I pointed out the above to the manager, he said everything was alright!
there are many extremely reasonable south indian restaurans in london, so going to sagar which is more expensive than the others is not a trip I will repeat in a hurry.

Had dinner at Sagar on a Saturday night. The seating at the restaurant is too tight ie. the neighbouring table was only 1ft away. No atmosphere. Very disappointed with the food. I am familiar with southern indian food and found that their food is quite disgusting in comparison to authentic home-cooked ones (my best mate has southern indian roots). My partner ordered the southern indian Udupi Thali which cost £14.95 and really, it was just rice with small soupy lentils and dhal side dishes! I ordered a spring dosa and it was bland and soggy (£6,25). Sagar is one of the worse restaurants that we had even been to in London. THERE WAS NO SUBSTANCE AND NOURISHMENT IN OUR MEAL (and not because it is a vegetarian restaurant). I watch what I eat because I am pregnant. We did ask the waiter for some recommendations on what is good to order in his restaurant so it was a double punch when the food came. We voiced our disappointment to the manager after the unfinished meal and he said that he is unable to help as we should have mentioned it before tucking in. He was courteous, but was obviously unable to take our feedback in a positive manner. We really do not recommend this restaurant.

I used to go to this little gem of a restaurant every week or so when I worked in Hammersmith, and so lament our office move to Oxford which curtailed my visits. I still go when I can though and they never disappoint. The lunchtime thali is delicious and excellent value. A la carte, I'd recommend any of the starters or dosas. And the desserts are genuine desserts that Mummy would make if she cooked desserts!
My mouth is watering already, and I'm off to lunch there again. Yum...

The best Veggie indian in London - perhaps the best Indian full stop. i eat there at least every couple of weeks and everything I've ever ordered there has been superb. I'd particularly recommend the channa masala with bread, the mysore masala dosas and any of the poori's. Top food, great value (particularly the lunch special). you really can't go wrong.

I love this restaurant - I've eaten at Sagar several times and, having travelled South India extensively and eaten some of the best South Indian home cooking, I feel I know my stuff. For a little London veggie restaurant - its doing a superb job.
I recently had my birthday dinner at Sagar and invited a party of 14 friends - the food was great, service was excellent, and a good time was had by all.
I'm there for dinner tonight and just know that I'll not be able to avoid the divine coconut uttapam!

I went to Sagar (Ravenscourt) and was pleased with the starters. Ordered medu vada and idli sambhar to start off with. They both were really good. For maincourse, my friend ordered masala dosa which was actually not that great. It wasn't tiny as some people have described it to be but the potato filling in it was very bland. Although the uthappam I order was really good. Considering it was the first time I've had it, I'm quite impressed. I took the mixed one. Anyway, for drinks my friend ordered sweet lassi and I ordered salty lassi. The sweet lassi was good but I think the salty lassi was quite a waste of money considering it is almost £3 each! The salty lassi was really thick and the zeera in it was quite minimal. Overall, it turned out to be around £13 per person which is alright really. Not too bad for drink + starter + maincourse.
I do recommend it but suggest that you stay away from the masala dosa!
