Food was very mediocre, and certainly not worth the money paid for the all inclusive thalee,,,few curries, rice and papadams do not mount up to the amount that was charged. Waiters did not come around to ask if we were pleased with food or offer us any other items from the menu. Service was cold and unfriendly.

Went there for lunch and left disappointed. The food was absolutely unedible and on complaining the staff seemed clueless on what to do - didn't even offer an apology.
If you are genuinely fond of authentic Indian food, stay far away from this place.

This place is such a great veggie hidden gem... I regularly take advantage of their £2.95 set takeaway lunch which beats a soggy sandwich any day.
Eating in is a little more expensive but the value is still great with good service.

Went to Sagar this afternoon for lunch after being recommended by a friend. Ordered Masala Dosa. The Dosa was literally tiny, potatoes were bland and the sambhar, although decet, was spoonful. I was quite surprised to be charged 4.50 pounds for a miniature version of a dosa. The other food ordered was also very disappointing. The quantities were miniscule. Much better South Indian eateries in London. Avoid this one....

My boyfriend and I are vegetarien and we found this restaurant just by walking around.
We love this place, and we tried to go there as often as we can.
The food is really tasty, the ambiance is lovely.
This is my favorite restaurant so far in London

We aren't vegetarian. We had quite wonderful meals in a vegetarian restaurant in Goa (Calangute) and asked veggie friends for a London equivalent Sagar in Hammersmith they said. And they were right.!
The food was tasty and filling - I had a lovely glow in my mouth for an hour afterwards! We over-ordered fried stuff - possibly should have be guided not to, but then we didn't ask for guidance.(Will do when we go again)
The atmosphere/decor was lovely - with my back to the door I was a 1000 miles from grotty Hammersmith.Place was glisteningly clean and our table was cleaned twice between courses.
Lighting just right so I didn't have to squint at the menu
Service was ace - again reminded me of India - .Friendly without being servile.
Will be very happy to go again with vegetarian friends.

Their branch in Twickenham is our favourite. My girl friend likes Paper Paneer Masala Dosa. Very romentic atmosphere and pure indian taste. I donot eat Dosa anywhere except Sagar. Staff is well-mannered. Whenever we visit Sagar, we always have nice time.

We have been looking for a restaurant similar to the food we have in Goa... At last the restaurant is here!! The food is excellent and prepared "fresh" just like Goa... The service was excellent and we will definitely being going back!!
Recommend it to all - there are so many dishes that are authentic indian to enjoy without the "westernised touch" and non-veg's please give this restaurant a go it is difffernt!!

Short Version:
Great hot food, Fairly cold service.
Longer Version:
Visited Sagar with my family. My mom and dad are both extremely picky when it comes to South Indian food. They have tried plenty of South Indian restaurants all over the world. When they came to London, we visited the traditional East Ham south Indian restaurants but living in Chiswick, Sagar was an obvious at-least-one-visit joint.
We entered the Sagar restaurant with a healthy amount of skepticism, having being bitten by many a crappy restautant of the same name in the US. However, we were about to be pleasantly surprised.
The food was very good and very Mysorian. We had the Thali, the Mysore Masala Dosa. While my mom, a huge Rasam fan, was raving about the Mysore Rasam, my dad was quitely polishing off the many items on his plate. The Dosa , chutney and sambhar, all tasted very good. Paricularly the chutney. Reminded me of home.
Now lets come to the areas of improvement. The service definitely left a bit to be desired. As good as the food was, the experience on the whole did not leave us with a desire to go back. The service was very cold. It wasn't bad but just cold and the staff seemed very non-caring and distant.

The food is good and our family are its regular customers. But when we asked for an empty plate as we wanted to share the thali which was too much for one person, the waiter refused and said "no sharing". How ridiculous is this! People go to a restaurant to sit together at a table and share and eat. I don't feel like going back again.
