I have been coming to Terra for a few years now, birthday, anniversaries and just for a meal and have been a big fan always recommending it to people. I even took friends there a few times too and they loved it.

This is the first time I go there in a while and I was really surprised how much the food standard have dropped. I noticed at first that the workers were different to the ones I have known for a while.. so I asked and i was told the place had changed management.. so it all started to make sense to me.

We went on a Saturday and the place was pretty much empty when normally it never was when I used to go before. The staff were brilliant but the chef unfortunately isn't. We spent £130, so for that much money you'd hope for a good meal buy my Risotto was hard, bland and at the bottom it was very sour and had no good balance in taste.. I always used to order the risotto because they used to do it so nicely but again, I figured it out when i was told about the change of chefs and staff etc..

I never normally complain but I suppose the sad truth is that Terra is not the same anymore, just like any place that changes management normally.. either can go better or worse and this one has gotten worse. Shame really because I've had some great memories there but I really doubt I'll ever go there again now.

Food - 3/10 (The starters were not tasty at all and for how much they cost, not worth it. Mains were bland and not as good as before)

Service - 7/10 (The best thing about the place still, good staff and very friendly/funny)

Atmosphere - 5/10 (Nice and quiet but at the same time, too quiet and empty and just didn't feel as warm and nice as before)

Value for money - 3/10 (Like i said £130 was not worth the food but we did get a free champagne bottle and a good service).

Terra has incredible staff. Jack, Gabriel, and Laura are all amazing and warm. On a second visit they knew our names after we had spoken to them at length towards the end of the night of our first visit. This is a review of the food we ordered on our second visit.

There were four of us and two had the soup of the day, which was carrot and Orange soup, all freshly made and delicious with home made bread as a crouton. Fresh bread with olive oil and vinegar is complimentary before starters and its tastiness and home cookedness sets the tone for a whole meal. The other two members of our party had the Terra platter and meatballs respectively. Both dishes were lovely.

The main course specials are where Terra excels. I believe the chef to be exceptional with his specials. I had the Jack steak, sirloin meat stuffed with feta. I have not seen this on a menu before and it tastes great. The others had ostrich steak (exceptional) and two had seafood (both delicious).

Finally I turn to the home made desserts. The Apple pie (home made) tastes unlike any Apple pie I have eaten (superb) but what I would call a chocolate tart is just out of this world. We shared desserts due to a full two courses previously. If we had not been such close friends there could have been fights over the last spoonfuls.

I'm not sure why there have been a number of negative reviews about Terra. I've been coming for a few years now and never noticed any drop in standards or service.

This is probably more of a summer restaurant, when they can open up the front on a warm evening. It creates a really nice atmosphere with the gentle music in the background. This is not to say avoid it in the winter. I just prefer it in the summer.

I've never had any complaints about the food, although I admit to having always ordered from my shortlist of about 3 items. But I would testify that it's certainly been good enough for me.

The service is always attentive and so far faultless. And efficient. I'm not sure where the 'clueless' comment came from. If they had an off-day, I must have missed it. I've been helped with wine orders, been given advice on desserts, the name of the music playing and even a glass of ice to keep some white wine cold. In short they've bent over backwards for me.

The bill won't shock you either. This is another reason I've been a repeat customer.

Some of these reviews are fake. Although the manager is very polite and friendly, the food is disgusting. Go there at your own risk!

Hm...After reading last 5 reviews we have decided to re-visit the TERRA. We where not sure why did they suddenly drop down by so much.? Thankfully everything was as we left it 3-4 weeks ago, GREAT food served with SMILE and not to peppery bill.

Guys and girls, there is simply something for all food eaters from Half Lobster with Linguini to Ostrich Stake, Spinach Lemon Risotto with Prunes is a must try so is Tartufo di Norcia with Tagliatelle. Set 2 course is £7.95, lunch time and the choice is very good.

You have to check they blackboard for daily specials!!!!

Now, I would not normally right to this extend but, one review said the true 'London eaters' using small cap for London (not really bright) leave full details of what they had.......Well I live in WC1 and this is my first full review, I normally say (good, bad, marvelous...) nice and short.

All in all, people you will not regret going there!!! IT'S MUST TRY PLACE. MARVELOUS!!!!!

What a let down.

The place was almost empty apart from an unhappy family watching their 'little darlings' trashing their table and the sad faced couple in the corner who haven't said a word to each other all evening. The service was basic and the food poor. Nothing original or exciting as promised. The wine list was short and laminated on the back of the menu and had no real thought to it.

We went on the recommendations of this site and found it did not live up to expectations.

Went to Terra after seeing the reviews, I have to say that it was great, the host was very welcoming to us, tended to whatever we required.

The food was also exceptional, starters were great ''try the spiced meatballs'' both main courses were also perfectly cooked, Steak was tender and Lamb was full of flavor. All the food seemed as though it was cooked to order and the place itself is in a quiet area, right beneath the BT tower. Great walk back through Oxford street seeing the sights on the way. Enjoyed every minute of the night, would definitely return again!!

Very disillusioned indeed. We went to this restaurant a few years back when we were last in London and it was fantastic which is why I decided to book a group of eight in on our return to the City. I will be very honest and say the owner/ front of house guy was very nice but in my opinion was doing too much, and what he was doing was slack/rushed and not to a good standard. Starters taken down wrong, then forgotten, food tipped over one of us (he was very very apologetic tho) I know it was an accident but it was down to him forgetting meals, rushing about and generally trying to do to much that he did this. The food was very average and a bit bland. One other point I didn't think very good was the waitress removed plates while some of the party was still eating.

On a plus point the place is nice, the staff are friendly and the prices are good. However dont think I would return. Very sorry as you are a really nice guy, get more help and start to relax into it more..

Having been recommended this restaurant by a friend, we decided to dine there after a show as it was within easy walking distance. We were greeted on arrival by Jack who took care of us throughout the evening. Nothing was too much trouble and he made a fuss of our 7year old son who thought he was great. The menu was varied and it was difficult to choose as it all sounded so tempting, we asked for some help and we were not disappointed. The food was superbly presented and tasted delicious. The Jack stake Montenegro was excellent. The bill was very reasonable for 2 courses, drinks and coffee. It's a must, when experiencing London dining !
