Jamie's Italian (Westfield)
your comments review this restaurant and win a bottle of champagne
I've been to Jamie's twice now, once in Brighton and more recently in Westfield. I think the plus points to this chain are the decor and staff, but I feel that they end there. The portions are small (even if you order a main sized pasta) and so you'll need to order side dishes or multiple courses to avoid leaving hungry! As a result the experience both times has been somewhat underwhelming and overpriced. I think twice is enough and regrettably I won't be trying Jamie's again. As we left after a late lunch, the chefs were just sitting down to eat on their breaks and interestingly their portions of pasta were considerably bigger than the ones they serve to their customers!

We ate at Jamie's Italian in Westfield today. Unfortunately we didn't have a good experience - mainly due to the service. Judging by the comments we overheard from other diners at the tables near us we weren't alone in suffering bad service.
I had to ask the waiter if there were any specials. The waiter forgot to bring our olives, then brought out a the wrong dish for my partner's main course. He never asked how our food was.
The food itself tasted good but the portion size was too small for the price charged.
Finally, my partner noted that there was toilet paper in the ladies toilets!
We both agreed that we wouldn't be back.

Food was lovely and reasonably priced.
Service, although waiter was polite, was very slow and felt forgotten about.
When initially seated, in a not so busy restaurant, we were sat next to another table.
When asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside, we said inside. They then sat us on the edge of outside/inside with the doors wide open.
Probably won't eat there again.

A group of six of us went to Jamie's last week for dinner. What a disappointment! The atmosphere, decor, fit out and general feel of the place is great. the staff are also super friendly and nice; our waiter even looked like Jamie O, and laughed and charmed our group throughout.
Unfortunately though, we came for a good meal, and that's where Jamie's falls down. Six different mains, and 6 disappointed diners, each of us well accustomed to what decent Italian food should taste like. Each dish was bland, and looked and tasted like it was bought in a ready meal section at Tesco, although at least a ready meal satisfies. The portions at Jamie's were minuscule; we all left feeling hungry. Seriously, it's quite hard to understand how a season chef like Jamie, can lend s name to a restaurant that produces such tasteless food.
London has many great little Italian restaurants; I don't see Jamie's surviving unless it lifts its game. Buon Sera in Chelsea, or Osteria Basilica in Notting Hill are hands down better options. Even Kitchen Italia, a chain restaurant located 50m away from Jamies in Westfield, is much tastier.

Decent Italian chain restaurant. Prices fairly low but portion sizes fairly low too (£3.50 for a slice and a half of bread which they supposedly bake themselves). Quality OK and service OK. Atmosphere OK. So, just OK.

The quality plus the portion sizes are SO not worth the prices. We skeddadled after consuming two 'planks' (one meat, the other chargrilled veg) and a side order of bread, which with a bottle of sparkling water came to £20 ish. Were not prepared to risk an equaly impoverished 'main' course. I reckon you could easily recreate the whole thing by spending about £4.50 in Waitrose. The amount on the 'planks' (which were each balanced on two old tins of tomatoes [aka tosh]), and the quality of the food (which was presented on some torn up old menus [aka rubbish]) was just not good enough. The place itself is nice, the waitress was very pleasant and helpful but I wouldn't go again. It is probably perfect for people with children who are fed up with McDonalds and not worried about the bill. It was very child friendly and there were a lot of families in. As a business I am sure it is doing Jamie the world of good. Shame about the customers!

My boyfriend and I went to Jamies for dinner, very dissapointed. The restaurant itself was fantastic, the decor is really amazing. However the food was not what we were expecting. We ordered the Italian nachos, which was a tiny bowl of very small raviloi stuffed with a little bit of cheese and then it came with a salsa. Fantastic idea, but would of been nice if there was more cheese or bit more sauce. We had the crispy squid, far from crispy, another very small portion. The tomato bruschetta was very bland, cold and bread soggy!
Mains, I had the scallops, this was lovely, I really enjoyed the presentation, my boyfriend had the lamb chops, that was lovely as well. You get two very small lamb chops, not a lot of meat. Hence why he was still hungry when he left!
We then shared a butterscotch ice cream with honeycomb, was lovely but would have liked the honeycomb to be a bit more crunchy and not so soft.
Its expensive for what you get. I wont hurry back there. And because there is a queue they waitress just hovered at our table, wanting us to go. We were only there for an hour and a half, so dont go there for a relaxing dinner or for a good laugh with friends, its gobble and go!

Us four ladies decided tonight to check out Jamie's Kitchen at Westfield. My sister had her eye on it to try out the food from day one when it opened this year.
You had to take into account to wait for your table but you are provided with a pager, so you can head for the bar and chill out with a nice drink until something buzzes in my pocket, prompting us to go back to the hostess and be lead to our table. The bar also keeps a tab with your credit/debit card securely in place, and drinks you've placed on the tab is transferred to your food bill - which is great!
We had a lovely french waitress tending to our needs and the food we ordered was fresh, hot and tasty but its something I could do myself at home as well. Sorry Jamie, I've got all your cooking books :)
Its a place that we're not in a rush to go back too anytime soon but a good place for when you've gone shopping and you tend to chill out and eat freshly cooked food. Think next time, I will try a pasta dish as the fish in the bag idea was not to my liking.

Me and My Partner went on saturday 2nd october 2010, it was really nicely presented and all staff seemed lovely.
We had to wait 40 mins for our table but we were able to sit in the bar area and wait, it was really nice, had a few drinks and then we was shown to our table which was also nice. Our orders were taken but then we had to wait about an hour for our starter to get to us, and we didnt know if out starter was delivered right because it was cold but we assumed it was meant to be hot, either way we ate coz was very tasty. Then about 45 mins later the manager came and said sorry for the wait your food is on the way, should be 5 minutes, then it came so it was a bit of a wait for the food but it was really nice, portions were fine, not too big or too small, would of had an even better time if the food was deliverd quicker, but it is a very busy restaurant so sort of expected, but we would go again, but not in a hurry.....x
