Have eaten here a couple of times. First time was very poor, tapas was burnt for chorizo and the mushrooms were straight out of a can. Tried again but unfortunately served up similar slop. Be warned though regarding the hand written bills, I sent a bill back twice as on both occasions it was wrong, an overcharge of £15...blimey!

Possibly the worst restaurant experience ever. I must qualify that my experience at this restaurant was during the pre-set lunch, so there is a possibility that the dinners or tapas could be better. However, I am skeptical that other dishes could be any good since they clearly have no problem serving instant, boxed, canned, frozen food. Mashed potatoes out of the box, vegetable soup from an instant packet, frozen pees and carrots, pre-packaged, frozen cake. Horrible! I live right across the street from this restaurant and was really hoping that it would be good. I now think this must be a front business for something else, since it seems to always be empty. I hope they will close shop soon so that we can get something else in this spot. Whatever the next restaurant will be, it will be better.

Nice and indeed a typical cozy spanish style restaurant. Food and service were good, as expected. After receiving and paying a hand written bill we noticed that a bottle of beer was £5,90 and the bill was calculated wrong.

Since the closure of my favourite local Spanish restaurant it has been a task trying to find a replacement. However, La Maja has now taken its place. The staff were very friendly and service was good. It was quiet for a saturday night, but the atmosphere was perfect for a quiet meal for two.

The tapas menu is extensive and we opted for the prawns in garlic, fried squid and the chorizo cooked in wine accompanied with bread (so as not to waste all the wonderful juices!). All came with generous portions. My partner was particularly happy with the squid as it was very tender and not at all rubbery (as he had experienced in the past at other restaurants).

For the main we opted for the paella Valenciana - this was divine! Piping hot, fresh ingredients and full of flavour. It did not fail to please. We were so full from the tapas that we could not even finish the paella! To drink I recommend the sangria.

Overall we had a great time and did not have to pay a fortune for all the food we had ordered. We will definitely be returning to La Maja and have recommended it to all our friends!

Visited 5 or 6 times now and it is consistently good. Friendly service, good value, and they have a No Smoking area!
