i have been to kiping with my family and friends , as we enter the waiter rushed to welcome us and offered table number 4 .we were looking forward for the good evening .We ordered bhel patash ,sheek kabab and crab with mango .the bhal patash was beautiful with the sauce but the sheek kabab and crab with mango was disgusting ,there was lots of cumin flavour in sheek kabab and crab was mixed with mango with out any taste .In the main we had chicken makhani duck ,shahi rack and rudyard lamb, dal makhani, saag aloo, cauliflowerans roast potato. flambe lamb. I belong to punjab witch is the state of indian and we were very happy to have chicken makhani we call it butter chicken in india and dal makhani beautiful we enjoyed the two dishes ,AS you read the menu the duck is discribed as Deboned half a duck roasted with a variety of herbs & spices, then cooked in a medium strength thick sauce but when you see it is not been roasted but cooked .The chef came with the flambe lamb was very polite asks for the strength of the lamb to be cooked ,this is dish we enjoyed very much and his performance on live cooking which is not there in any indian restaurant we visited./THe chef art is to perfection but the shahi rack was another disappointment rudyard lamb was sweet and cook in same sauce as shahi rack .roast potato was bad, after that bill was over priced by two beer added by the cashier .i think the kilping is not under the management .they have beautiful reaturanant but going in the wrong direction please check

One of the best restaurants I have been to. The food is nice. The atmosphere is friendly. The waiters are polite and kind. No wonder why people like Steve McFadden (Phil Mitchell) come here regularly!

I can't believe the sheer blatant racism of the last reviewer, so what if the people who run Kiplings are Bangladeshi? This is not a BNP website, a little more tolerance please. They sure know how to run a good restaurant. The decor is great, the food is to die for, the waiters and the management are sweet, kindly, nice people. And as for the fool who was trying to give his old takeaway containers back to the driver, I think you should get out more often.

Yes, they are a little more expensive than the normal Indian restaurant, that's because they're a little BETTER than the 'normal'.

I agree wholeheartedly with Richard Kent's comments. I went there on the basis of its unusual menu, decor and ambiance - different from other Indian restaurant. I was horrified to find that something as basic as Tarka Daal was sweet. Then I found that the Rudyard Lamb dish which the waiter confirmed as being medium hot was in fact extremely sweet. The Shish Kebabs were more like long hot dogs made somewhere else. I was so disgusted with the Chef's response to my questions that I did not feel compelled to leave a tip!!

This is not an Indian Restaurant - in fact it is a Bangladeshi restaurant pretending to be an Indian restaurant and fooling its predominantly English customers to high heaven.

I would certainly not be going there again and would never recommend anyone to go there even if it is the last "Indian" or Bangladeshi restaurant in Highgate or London.

Indian food lovers would be well advised to try other significantly better restaurants in London.

Kipling's is my favourite local Indian - their Dahl Maharani is the best in London. I don't eat in there very often but I used to get a takeaway almost every week, although it is expensive.

The reason I have stopped is that they have now started to package all their takeaways in thick plastic containers ,which completely negates all the plastic bags I've avoided in the last six months by buying a string bag. The aluminium containers they used to use with cardboard lids were fine, so why change? When I tried to return the clean used containers to the driver who delivered my next meal he was shocked and said he didn't want them back. Do any other customers object to plastic containers? It's cost them hundreds of pounds in lost orders from me.

Extremely helpful and courteous staff. Expensive menu although the dishes are of excellent quality. Very much a case of getting what you pay for. Kiplings is highly recommended.

The service in Kiplings is excellent, and has been all four times I have visited. The food is always piping hot, with good portions, and it's very tasty. The waiters are obliging, and very attentive to your needs. Customers are never rushed in this place I find, and the atmosphere is very friendly and talkative.

I have always left the restaurant wanting to stay longer! But alas, it is a little more expensive than your average Indian.

But there is really no reason to criticise the place, unless you really detest piano music!

I am very surprised with some of the bad reviews for this place, especially the 1 star reviews. Please take no notice of them, as once you've visited the place you'll soon find out that they are blatantly false and/or biased. The decor, food, and ambient atmosphere are all a touch above your usual Indian restaurants, and I have actually been impressed with the service most of the time. They may have to work on all their waiters giving the same level of service though. The price may be slightly dearer than some other establishments but you get what you pay for, and I wouldn't say it is overpriced. As someone else pointed out, their chicken tikka masala is amazing, and for a mild dish try their Mango Lamb.

The food was the best i have ever had i am 48 years old and indain has been my favourite seen i was a child and i got to say i have had nothing better. As you enter Kiplings there is a stunning bar where you can sit and drink and eat free penuts and olives while you watch a pianist perform. the staff are very kind and show you to your table. as you look though the menu you see your average types of food korma, tiki malasla but when you order it and taste it, it feels like your in heaven. i highly recomanded this place to anyone who is thinking of going.
