Having intially contacted this Cottons wanting the number for the Cottons in Islington and being told that they are two totally seperate companies I went with the original one in Camden.

I was very, very disappointed with the food. It looked fantastic, but tasted very, very bland. I am hoping it was perhaps a one off as my friend throughtly enjoyed his meal, having gone for chicken as a starter and main but mine, ribs for starter and lamb shank for my main I was amazed that there was no seasoning and even chipped a tooth on the rib starter!

The saving grace I feel was the service, and the fact that my cocktail showed that they do not skimp on alcohol.

This place has really gone down, i have been coming here for 20+ years.

1 star for the atmosphere and service, the food was terrible, the drinks warm and the glasses dirty, i drank my dragon stout from the bottle.

When i made a comment about this and the fact that the service charge was already added to my bill and prefer to decide myself, the manager was a total smart alec telling me that the restaurant will be here for another 25 years.

Well it will have to-improve dramatically to do this!!!!Dr K

This place seems to be taking a real beating in the reviews and I honestly can't see why. When I went I thought they had their act together quite well. I was hungry when I entered. I was full, and emotionally content when I left. It was a good evening.

I will concede their service was a bit on the slow side and perhaps a little rough around the edges, but it is possible to overlook these things if nothing is offending you. Just leave a smaller tip. Or none at all if you feel that way.

There was nothing wrong with the food we ordered. In fact, it was rather nice and I found everything to be pretty flavoursome and generously portioned.

Atmosphere is a tough call. It's multi-level, quirky and interesting. But it's also a bit tightly packed and close. It sort of works but it's touching on awkward.

I would go back. I don't think it's the hell-hole other reviewers are making it out to be. Granted it's no paradise either, but I would encourage others to give it a chance.

So I'm giving it a lukewarm review with the recommendation that you try it out when you're at a loose end.

possibly one of the WORST restaurants i have been to and wouldnt advise it to anyone.

Went with a birthday party of 8. Waited at the door like lemons for 10minutes before anyone bothered to notice us and take us to our table which was downstairs (bad move, should have stayed upstairs as we were totally forgotted about after that)

Our disastrous waitress assumed we were eating from the set menu and gave us all a bit of dirty paper. We wanted to see the main menu too so after waiting yet another 10 minutes we managed to see what Cottons could offer us, or not, in our case.

We ordered our drinks and waited 20minutes for them to arrive, then waited another 10 minuted to order our food - by which time we were all starving.

The food came and someone is our party was given a dish he didnt even order, it was then taken away and in frustration we did not get the dish replaced, we just wanted to eat and get out of there!

The food was good, but i wouldnt say it was worth the wait and upset to follow.

After all of this bad service, we finished our food and asked our useless waitress for the bill, little did she know that some people in the party could understand Spanish otherwise she wouldnt have said what she did to her colleage, i wont repeat it but she called us all a very rude word. At that moment i was ready to walk out.

to cut an already long story short, the manager gave us the meal + drinks for free, plus another drink on the house. the waitress was no where to be seen and we were told she had worked her last night at cottons.

would never go again.

We were due at a concert at the round house and Cottons was recommended to us by a friend. We dutifully went along and grabbed a stool.

Only wanting something simple we were initially put off by the food prices - £13:00 for a bit of chickien, then we saw bar food - £6 for a chicken burger.

So we ordered a couple of those and a beer and glass of wine.

The beer was nice, the wine was ok.

The food arrived. now it was tasty, but that was the smallest chicken burger I have ever seen. it really was a full sandwich cut in half.

Added on to that £20, I went back for a second beer and was short changed by £5, meaning I paid £8.50 for a beer.
