I went to cottons for a birthday celebration with 15 of us. The food was absolutely lovely although one thing I wasnt happy with and that was the curried chickpeas...I myself am of jamaican Indian parentage and would certainly recommend this restaurant to anyone.
The cocktails are to die for, the music was great and we certainly had a party!

July 27th i took my girlfriend to cottons for dinner, the service was prompt and within 2 minutes we had a table for two. it did take sometime for the waitress to come but when she did the service was spot on not to mention the food didnt take too long to arrive. i myself am caribbean raised and abit of a chef, the only thing i can criticise was the fried plantain which wasn't as sweet due to the way they were sliced. value for money was good but the highlight of the evening was the smoothies (absolutely of the wall) they should come with a warning due to how addictive they are. the atmosphere reminds me of a rum shop in grenada which is fine by me, a good caribbean feel to it. anyway it was an evening well spent. only cost £40 whhich was brilliant. i plan to make my way back there sometime soon as it was really good:)

Disappointing quality. It's just okay, but that's about it.
I'm still in search of a great West Indian restaurant in London, any suggestions?

Today a friend, my husband and I went to Cottons, we went inside and waited about 3 minutes before we saw a young man rushing up the stairs who looked quite surprised to see us. we asked if they were opened, he said they open at 5 and then he looked at his till monitor, and anxiously said he has five minutes. As we could clearly see that he was busy with setting up for the evening service, i quickly say thats ok, we'll just wait and take a look at the menu until they are opened. We sat in the bar area for another 15 minutes watching him busily set up the tables outside, let down the awning, put out ashtrays, 2 other colleages came up from downstairs, they chattered, and answered the phone, and even though they didnt seem to be in any rush as this one guy was doing everything, none of them came over, to even take a water order or simply smile.
What can I say we enjoyed the music and the lovely bike on th wall.
My husband then asked for a Takeaway menu, however they didnt have any. We left smiling, never to return.

I went there just last Saturday and the service was great. I had an amazing time.I am schocked by these reveiws and don´t understand what all the bad reviews are about. I am carribean raise and the food is delightful. I had the Mixed jerk meat for two and I almost ate the bone.
I thanks all the staff for a wonderful experience. And will reccomend it to all.
Thanks

We went to Cotton's on Sunday night and got there at about 09:00 PM, there were 6 of us and they managed to get us a table straight away. Service was very attentive and the food was better then a lot of other Caribbean restaurants i've been to. The cocktails are pretty good as well

The retsurant was lovely, I went with some friends on a Thursday and two bands were playing, the first was called kohene and I thought they were fantastic doing soul/funk numbers. If nothing else, the music in this place is first rate!

I was almost put off by the maj orityof bad reviews on this site, but fortunately I checked Time Out too, where it is has much better reviews.
We had a fantastic meal at Cottons and will definitely go back. Our waiter was great - very knowledgeable about both the food and wine menus, and service was excellent. Portions are generous and both our starters (duck and watermelon salad, and prawns with pineapple) were delicious. Mains just got better. The saltfish and ackee filo with sweet potato and garlic cream was to die for. Jerk salmon with black beans was also delicious. Sadly we couldn't manage a dessert. The only negative point was the two hour time slot (7.30-9.30 pm). Thursday to Saturday they have live music, which could be a bit intrusive at times, so if you fancy a quiet dinner avoid these nights or ask for a table away from the bar area.

I'm a regular at Cottons and am suprised at how bad these reveiws are.
My mother is Jamaican and I have grown up eating much of the menu.
The food is authentic, value for money and tasty.
I have a sneaky suspicion that some of the reviewers are used to more "middle class" surroundings.
If this is ur bag head to Mango you'll get what you may be used to in the west end ie fish without bones, pork without fat.
But you wont get the "real deal" which is what Cottons is.

My Husband and I visited Cotton's on Saturday 22nd april to celebrate our 1st wedding anniversary. We expected a lot as we are Jamaican; we were not disappointed. The service was great; all of the staff were so attentive and happy. The food service was good and prompt, the food portions were quite large and the food was hot. Both my husband and I thought that the food tasted beautiful; traditional with a european twist.
we will definatelty be returning with our family in the near future.
