This is not a place to eat if you have an instinctive taste for Caribbean food. This place lacks everything appertaining to West Indian cuisine. We ordered curry goat and rice £11.00 and it was appalling. The taste was insipid. I do not recommend this to my worse enemy. The cocktails are enormously over priced and the waitresses’ are either French or Spanish. Where is the connection to Caribbean food? Avoid the place the plague.

I went with a party of 15 with the age group ranging from 20-65 The service in this place is poor, it took about 20 minutes to get your drink order and then when it arrived half the order was missing, this happened at least 3 times and when we asked the waitress why this keeps happening she said in a really rude manner "I get overwhelmed sometimes and I forget orders" well get a waitress pad and that may help your problem. We were served by three waitresses and all of them abrupt and vacant, maybe they were just having a bad night.

The food is also very poor, the plantain was burnt and the fish was tail ends full of bones. It was over priced for what you get The cocktails (when they arrived) were very nice

Food delicious. Service poor - the waitress didn't show any courtesy and was rude and patronising. Don't try refusing the so-called 'optional' service charge either as the manager believes service charge is NOT optional. I won't call him a law-breaker - you make up your mind. I'm just glad the food was so good it didn't spoil the evening.

I had a very enjoyable evening at Cottons - the drinks are very well made and the food was better than I expected it to be. The salt cod fritters were excellent as was the goat curry - good benchmarks with Caribbean food.

The bar bit is cozy and buzzing with a good cocktail list.

I'd recommend this place for a good night out and would go again. And I'm a fussy so and so with high standards.

There you have it. Goodbye.

I went to Cottons in Chalk Farm, as I had only been to the Islington one - and although the Islington one is bigger...the vibe in the Camden Cottons is so much better! I loved it, my friend and I had the best night there...we ran up a £70 bill at the bar becuase the cocktails are just too good to leave alone! and we spend a while chatting to a very friendly and extremely knowledgeable barman, who let us smell and taste all these unusual exotic spirits and liquers. The food and service was nice, and left the table feeling full and with a smile on my face...which normally occurs when devouring good West Indian food!! the DJ played old skool Soul, real R'nB and classic Reggae all night ...was very nostalgic and sexy, a great place for a date or a catch up with an old flame!...trust me!! A great night, a great place and will be back soon.

I went to Cottons recently and found the food to still be of the highest standard and the service friendly and unobtrusive.

Prices seemed to have creeped up a little since my last vist but i guess that's inflation.

This is still the real deal!

The last time l went to cottons it must have been some 10-12 years ago & l raved on about it then because it was one of the first west indian restaurants l'd been to, which knew how to serve west indian food well, which tasted authentic. I went to cottons on saturday 25th August with 2 friends, and it was so unpretenious & lively, the music was really good, shame their isn't enough space to dance at the bar area. The food was so good i can still taste the fish curry l had, it was perfect, so delicate & just enough, you wouldn't be able to eat dessert, you wouldn't want to, l couldn't even tell you if they had a dessert menu. I could not make up my mind on the starters, they all sounded so good, we shared. But they were all nice the salt fish frtters - were my favourite, the sweet potatoe & callalou pie was my favourite & went so well with the creme fraiche & the chicken kekabs was a good combination but could of done with more!. Its been along time since l went to a restaurant & couldn't make up my mind, menu was too good to choose from, but l had the trinidadian fish curry & it really worked well, l can't wait to go back & have that again. Can't wait to invite more friends, l can't believe l didn't know it was back, ( l have been wasting my money at v.poor immitations for so long) when it closed down, l though it was the end until someone told me that it had re-opened, l wasn't convinced it was the same place, but luckily it was, what a phoenix from the ashes. Brilliant, what a gem. This is now my new favourite restaurant, it's value for money too - oh & the staff, fantastic service, polite, friendly, funny, they were very accomodating even though we were late & they had great timing, they weren't in your face rushing you to order, even though it was late -it's been along time since l experinced service at such a high standard. See you soon

Was entertaining some friends from across the pond and booked for Saturday night - we arrived early to take advantage of their fantastic cocktails (happy hour 5-7pm!). We had a table downstairs, quite a cosy spot. Service was excellent. Prompt, polite, professional. I had the fish special - whole red snapper with fried plantain. It was lovely but a bit of work (2 small snappers not 1 whole one which is what anyone would have expected). Everyone was pleased with their food - the place picks up after 9pm on weekends because of the DJ set up at the front of the restaurant.

A definite must to book in advance. It would be nice to eat upstairs ~~ or to get more lighting downstairs to brighten things up..! Will be going back again.

I went to cottons in Islington 17th. Feb 2007. Waited 1/2 hour for starter and then the main course didnt arrive after another hour i deciced tpo payd for what i ate and leave. Dont go to this place. The waiters in the dungeon that they have down stairs seem to think its funnny to drag tables and chairs instead of lifting and placing them.
