I had an awful lunch yesterday at Manicomio. We shared an anti-pasti board - the pate on toast looked awful and had a slimy awful texture and tasted dreadful. I ordered a warm cheesecake with lemoncurd ice-cream. I couldn't eat it, the cheesecake was curdled and tasted terrible.
The waiter was very very pleasant, I couldn't fault him at all.

This looked great from the outside and so we queued for a table. However the meal itself was extremely disappointing and didn't live up to the descriptions on the menu (or indeed the food at the deli counter which looked a lot better than the food we got served!).
I had a panini which was extremely greasy - give me a Starbucks/Pret one anyday! My boyfriend had soup which he said was completely bland.
The service was terrible - we found it difficult to get the staff's attention. We got our drinks about 10 minutes after our food was brought.
We skipped pudding and coffees here and headed next door to Patisserie Valerie which was 1000 times better!
Manicomio has a great location but the food and service is terrible. Perhaps it's ok for a drink in the sun but I'd warn you against the food there.

My wife and I visited the Deli section of Manicomio and ordered 6 slices of pizza (along with numerous other items that were on their menu), when we came to pay we found that they had charged us £5 a slice for the pizza, in total £30!
This is absolutely disgraceful. It would have been slightly less insulting if the pizza was at least cooked fresh and served warm but it was just pizza that had been sitting on the counter (for god knows how long) and was stone cold. Taste wise it was bland and tough.
Will not be going back anytime soon. This is daylight robbery!

This place is incredible. Sat at the bar (whilst they cleaned all the bottles and shelves - why not do it earlier before customers arrive? Anyway, I digress.....)
Salmon tartare and beef shin ravioli to start, with a nice bottle of Gavi y Gavi. Very fresh & tasty using high quality ingredients. They brought a massive block of parmesan to the table with a grater - nice touch.
We had fish for mains. My cod was perfect and my girlfriends tuna needed to be sent back as it wasn't quite rare enough. It was exchanged without fuss immediately.
The dessert however exceeded everything. A blood orange and rhubarb trifle with fresh custard and crumbled biscotti pieces. Jesus it was good. The best dessert I can remember eating.
We visited on a rainy chilly day. I imagine sitting outside in the sun would make this place near perfect.
Will go again. Totally amazing.
