Great food, lovely turkish wine, friendly and not over pushy service. The lighting is perhaps a little bright and my partner was disspapointed that the candle wan't lit. Didn't stop him accepting my drunken proposal though!

Fantastic restaurant. Fresh simple food. Meat is always incredible. Kids love it too. Nice atmosphere. Friendly and efficient staff. Best value on Lordship Lane.

Delicious food, particularly the starters and mezze. I like the lively atmosphere here. I'm surprised by the negative comment from one person as I've been here a lot and not had any problems. I don't remember ever waiting too long for the food but even if I did that isn't such a big problem. All together a very nice restaurant.

I ate at the Hisar for the first time a couple of weeks ago. I found the food absolutely delicious and the staff friendly and efficient, with a nice, relaxed atmosphere in the restaurant. There are many great places to eat on Lordship Lane and this place will now feature at the top of my list.

It's the quality of the meat that sets this place apart. Lamb always beautifully tender, chicken succulent and cooked perfectly. Service from mainly Polish staff cheery and efficient, and £12 for a bottle of decent Oz red is fine. Nice place, nice people, nice food.

The negative reviews are bewlidering ... 'truckers' cafe'? I don't think so. This is decent Turkish grill fare, better than most in fact. The lamb is soft and succulent, and the squid is a real treat. We've noticed a slight decline though in recent months - you seem to get slightly less meat in the mixed grill for instance - is this the dreaded portion-control creeping in? But still a good budget choice for East Dulwich.

I went there to eat last week with my son and daughter in law.

I was extremely impressed with the food and the service.

I had a steak topped with mushrooms and it was as good as I have ever had anywhere.

There is always a slight delay when food is freshly cooked and prepared.

I live in Derby but when I am in that area again visiting my family I shall certainly return.

It was excellent value.

We've been going to Hisar on a regular basis since we moved to SE22 18 months ago and it's never failed us yet. You can see your food being cooked right there in front of you if you choose a 'burnt meat' option (our affectionate description), but I've recently discovered they do the most amazing veggie moussaka - dangerous but delicious. I'll admit the desserts are a bit ropey, but otherwise Hisar is great. The staff have mostly been there for years, which I think is a good sign, and they're unfailingly polite and efficient.

I'm really confused by the negative comments, especially the one where the guy said he thought about flyering on Lordship Lane because Hisar was so bad - I wonder if he went to the same restaurant as us?

This is a great restaurant - good food, price and atmosphere. We return frequently either as a family or as a couple and are always welcomed. The complaints mentioned in another revue must have been a very rare occurance!
