Aragosta

This place is amazing, i'm a regular in this restaurant and they have never failed to disappoint. I have been for the pizzas which are the best i've tasted in any italian restaurant and the steaks are divine! And the fish?! Fresh and juicy as if caught that day! Im a regular because i cant help to think what else they can offer me on their wonderful menu. They give you exactly what you ask for, its a shame there are some negative reviews as i find this restaurant to be my favourite.

My wife and I were back at Aragosta last week and the majority of reviews have got it spot on, the food is excellent, although we only eat fish and vegetarian options (which one would think might restrict our view), the service just right, solicitous without being intrusive and the prices are good as well. They invariably chuck in a complementary drink of some sort and know how to keep the diners happy.

£30 a head may sound high to some, but is about right; four of us went there before last Christmas and we had three courses with coffee, a couple of bottles of wine, soft drinks etc for that. Portions are just right, you'll end up full but not stuffed!

We all enjoyed ourselves, the atmosphere is always welcoming and they seem busy pretty much throughout the week. One of our party was strictly a 'meat and two veg' man and very fussy to boot, he said his steak was the best he could remember, so your last reviewer must have got a different place!

We live fairly local to the restaurant and would echo your other reviewer's pizza experience, whenever we fancy a take-away one we order from them; their veggie options are excellent as well and good value...

In an overlooked area for good restaurants this is one of our faves, we've never had a dud meal and I'd have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.

I went to this restaurant because its local and also because of the comments on this site, which are good in the extreme and boy was I disappointed.

I ordered a medium rare steak but what I got was blood red under the surface. It was taken away and it came back well done, tough and tasteless.

The waiters were bored and curt bordering on rude.

This is a genuine criticism of a poor over priced restaurant unlike the suspiciously rave 'reviews' I read before I went.

Went there based on recommendations here and was in no way disappointed! All three courses were delicious, the swordfish I had as my main was lovely and soft and tasty and the vegetables I had with it were cooked to perfection. The venue is very nice, and the staff were both very efficient and very friendly. Will definitely be going back!

The first Italian place I have been to that atcually has NICE thin base pizzas. The base is slightly crispy unlike the soggy ones that I usually have which takes forever to slice up. Very good portion size given their prices which were reasonable. The service was very good. They were not in your face all the time yet whenever you needed attendance someone was always on by to help. They were very professional and polite. And the most important bit...the desserts was YUMMY!!!!

Most definately the best Pizza i've ever had in the world... apart from the one pizza i had in Costa Del Amalfi, Italy, about 13 years ago. You haven't tasted pizza if you haven't been to Aragosta.Trust me!!

Superb!!!! Looking on the outside it looked more expensive than it actually was having never experienced Italian food, other than Pizza Hut. I was taken back by the sheer determination of the staff and proffessionalism in which they totally looked after my every need, recommending me my starter main course and dessert. The liver was tantalising very different to how I would normally have liver, the passion fruit mousse shortly followed suit and was equally undenyably the best dessert I have encountered in my 32 years. The coffee tasted just as good as it smelt and I soon relised that B&Q was selling a cappachino maker which I promptly purchased and have yet to try it. Having not managed to finish everything that I ordered, I found myself leaving with that famous saying "I'll be back!!"

I am shocked at GG of Highbury comments dated 30 January 2006. Yes indeed, the restaurant is of West End quality, but not at those prices! The restaurant is a gem, thankfully not overcrowded, and one of North London's best kept secrets. I have eaten there both in a personal and business capacity with guests between 2 and 20, and the high level of service and quality of food has remained constantly high. The quality of the raw ingredients is exceptional, particularly the fish as I have seen daily deliveries when passing in the mornings! The frendliness and quality of staff (not 18 year old students) is commendable.

I only hope that GG gomes back, of course he/she may have had a sub-standard one-off experience but there again if they don't I shouldn't have too long to wait for a table for me and my guests!

Aragosta is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This restaurant is the best Italian ive ever had, and believe me ive had quite a few, all over the world! From the main course to the delightful decorations on the side of the plate. As for the desert, I will not even start...

Any one who has not been to Aragosta, has missed out on the best Italian restaurant in London! I'd say to anyone who is unhappy with Aragosta, you must give it a 2nd chance, lets face it, even the very best restaurants in London have the odd "bad night", from my experience anyway!!
