TimeOut - 3/5

Tuesday, October 19, 2010 - The terrine de campagne was excellent. Served on a wooden board, the dense slice of pork pate came with toasted sourdough bread and a small bowl of pickles, the sourness of which contrasted with the hearty terrine...Mains are a tribute to the restaurant's name - most dishes are served in a cocotte (heavy pot) from Le Creuset. Coq au vin is one such classic, the moist meat of the chicken leg swimming in a deeply flavoured red wine sauce, dotted with mushrooms and smoky bacon.

We visited this restaurant in December 2012, following the recommendation of a long-time La Cocotte (and Spurs) fan, Mike M.

We (4 adults, 2 children) had a wonderful meal at La Cocotte and look forward to returning with our Parisian friends. The service was super-friendly; the two owners clearly take a delight in their food and in customer satisfaction. The upstairs room was packed and had a great atmosphere.

Check it out. This is one of the best restaurants in the NW3 area.

Heard about this new local French restaurant at South End Green, so my boyfriend and I decided to give it a try. What a nice surprise that was!

The French bistro-style ground floor was so cute, charming and welcoming and we thought we were in France as we were entering the restaurant. However, we decided to dine on the first floor which had a more exclusive, romantic and cosy setting.

We had Onion Soup and Tarte Provencale as our starters. The soup might have been slightly under-seasoned for my liking but that might just have been me as I tend to have my food on the salty side. My boyfriend's provencale vegetables in the tarte were very tasty.

I had their weekly special which was cassoulet with duck confit, lamb and garlic sausages. It was simply amazing and perfect for this time of the year. The portion was very generous but since I did not want to waste the food so I reluctantly asked for a doggy bag. My boyfriend had bouillabaisse and it definitely reminded us South of France.

We were pretty full when it came to desserts but we felt we ought to try out their Creme Brulee since it was a French restaurant afterall and we were not disappointed. It was light and wonderful - a perfect end to our meal.

The ambience was just right and the service was friendly and attentive. We had a quick chat with the 2 owners on our way out. They were pretty busy at the time but still happy to spend a few minutes with us. Just charming. We would definitely come back! So good to have such a local neighbourhood restaurant.
