I am a massive fan of Vietnamese food after living in Saigon and this place is the best i've had in London!

The food is delicious and fresh with a wide variety of dishes to choose from.

Cay Tre is the best Vietnamese food in town. Everything is so fresh and delicious. You are spoilt for choice from seafood to chicken, pork or beef. You could come here every week and never be bored....we aren't.

I can't recommend this place enough. The food is great, the staff are friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is fantastic.

This place is rocking. You will find like you are dining in a top-notch restaurant in Saigon. They even have Lobster salad with Crabmeat, which only a few restaurant sell in Ho Chi Minh City.

Many celebrities start dining in Hoxton. Yesterday, I cant believe in my eyes when I saw Keira Knightley. Oh Gosh I love this place, love the outstanding food, love the decor and love the atmosphere. I think this is the only choice for Vietnamese food in London, for a bowl of Pho or a nice summer roll, or for something like Lobster salad. My beloved Vietnamese.

Absolutely amazing food -- we are frequent visitors to Cay Tre. The Basa fish is worth a try, as is the lotus leaf starter. Reasonably efficient service, although not as bad as one would prefer on weekends. Friendly wait staff.

Being a massive fan of Vietnamese cuisine I've eaten my fair share of it and from my experience the food at Cay Tre is second to none. Really authentic flavours and the freshest tasting ingredients along with a buzzing atmosphere make this a great place to eat.

Cay Tre is an old favourite of ours. We normally go at least once a week. In fact off there again this evening.... They have just had a New Year make over, quite garish wallpaper by the looks of things when I walked past yesterday.

The food here is great, much better than the once supreme Viet Hoa. The service is completely charmless though.

From a food perspective, this place rocks. The menu is extensive, they have increased their wine list although some are perhaps moving a bit too far up the price curve.

Service and ventilation are perhaps the weeker points, although there have been some glimmers of home recently on the former category.

I will keep returning for the food and takeaway, as it's the best in the Hoxton area. If they found another restaurant and warmed up the staff, this business would beat the others hands down.

a great restuarant with amazing food. The menu is a little overloaded but once you have read it, it is difficult to know what to order. We asked the people next to us what they had ordered and apparently they had done the same to the people before us. A real friendly restaurant with plenty of serving staff to look after your needs. They recommend wines with most dishes which is helpful. I will definately return to try out some different dishes. The price is also very reasonable and the portions large enough to share one main dish between two.

Perfectly OK but not extraordinary. We were seated downstairs, which really is very noisy and plain. Absolutely fine for a supper but I can't see it as a destination for a date. There's a very long menu, some of which was great . Salt and pepper squid was abundant and great, the belly pork was sticky and unctuous in a great stock, and the summer rolls were good'n'chewy, if a little light on herbs. Spring rolls and a dish of fried noodles with beef (mince) and vegetables were fine, if a bit bland. The La Vong fish, cooked at your table with a burner was interesting rather than good. One of the ingredients was indeed handfuls of dill, which cropped up elsewhere. We had four beers and an oversweet lemonade and the bill was just under £60, inflated a little by our over-ordering. Service was efficient, if functional. I'd go again, but I don't think it's significantly better or worse than some of the others on KIngsland Road.

Having lived in Asia for a few years this was just like the food from 'home'. Brilliant dishes, all super-fresh and with the traditional herbs. Would recommend the spring rolls you make yourself - which includes cooking the beef at your table! Tasty and fun to boot. Tuxedo chicken was fabulous and loved how much fresh young ginger they used. Next time I will give the pork belly and the beef luc-lac a try, it looked great, and I will definitely be going back. Even on a Tuesday there were queues out the door and was very glad I booked. Despite being so full service was quick and helpful. Good wine, too.
