The Well

We held our wedding reception at The Well and can't say how brilliant everything was. Nadia their event planner organised a small lunch just for family which was absolutely perfect; we had an excellent menu to choose from and the food was delicious. We then hired both floors for a party for 80 friends in the evening. Again the food was fantastic, the service was brilliant, the staff couldn't do enough for us and everyone had such a good time. I would highly recommend the well to anyone wishing to host a private party

I went here for a birthday meal with 23 friends. Lovely restaurant, great atmosphere, excellent staff - a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon was had by myself and my guests.

I was especially impressed with the service given the size of our party but not a single hitch.

from the booking manager in their head office through to the waiters (and even the kind chef who replaced the sunday roast that was accidentally showered in vinegar which had been mistaken for gravy) everyone was great

We had our Engagement party at The Well this month in the downstairs lounge. From the planning of the event to the night itself, all went really smoothly. Nadia from the ETM Group, of which The Well is a part, was extremely helpful in the lead up, as were all the staff on the night. In terms of the venue itself, it looks fantastic and many guests commented on it. We also ordered platters of food for our guests and even though we didn't eat much ourselves, many of our guests mentioned how good it was. In the end about 75 guests came. It was a littlle cosy at the height of the party but it made for a good atmosphere anyway. We got to play our own music and managed to have a boogie til about 1am. It couldn't have gone any better!

We went to The Well for our office Christmas party and were really impressed and delighted by the level of service and standard of food at this place!

The staff were so welcoming and accommodating, we didn't feel rushed and we could enjoy our party and games without feeling pressured to hurry or quieten down: it was really perfect for an office Christmas party! Feedback on the food was entirely positive with these choice quotes from my colleagues this morning:

- 'I wish I kept space for that brownie...'

- 'the extra spuds and gravy went down well'

- 'The mini crimble puds were amazing'

We were also delighted by the wine - we stuck to the house red and we thought it was an excellent choice.

Really - we have nothing bad to say, it was a tremendous meal and service and we were all very happy!

The Well is a fantastic gastropub with great ambience. In my first trip to London I was staying close by and actually ate there three times in 10 days! I then hosted a Christmas party there for a group of 20, which can very often be chaotic. The Well was extremely professional, courteous and organized. They made the event enjoyable and fun while providing high quality service and food! I highly recommend this establishment!

I had recently hosted a big birthday bash (60+ppl) & it was fantastic! The Well was a superb choice of venue with a lovely atmosphere, great food & excellent service. All m y friends commented on the quality of the food & how friendly the staff were & the Prosecco was the best we've ever drunk plus the cocktails - mmmm!

I'd recommend for private hire but i also go there regularly for dinner & quiz nights & will continue to do so

Went here last night having been once before about 3 years ago and loved the venison and truffle mash. It was refurbished recently but looked exactly the same as before.. Which seemed a bit pointless! Anyway we had 6 oysters to start and they were good. Size wise fairly small but bigger ones can have less flavour I have found. ( not exactly an expert ) I feel the prices are too high for everything, by about 2 quid. This means that though it's nearer to me than the supermarket I rarely go. Would like to try and get in there for the 50% off lunch if they still do it. Waitress was nice and fairly efficient. I ordered a bloody Mary and whispered if I could have one more oyster to go with it. She obliged and it came in a shot glass, which aesthetically was rubbish but worked well with the drink. Plaice on the specials was well cooked and fresh. Served with finely chopped spring cabbage sautéed in either butter or olive oil I think (I have a cold! Hence bloody Mary with extra Tabasco) we ordered colcannon mash and broccoli sides and they really were minuscule. Tiny little shallow dish about a quarter the size of a starter plate and not good value, though adequately cooked. About a tenner (Inc service) for half a potato and 7ish broccoli florets is extracting the urine somewhat...

Also had snail and bacon Pie starter which was boasting tasty lardons, slow cooked in a rich ish sauce and not quite enough snails. The pastry could have been fluffier looking as it was flat but the waitress did say it was small when I ordered it as a main. I said I know! It's a starter and one thing the well could do better is upping portion size and slightly reducing prices. There is also a nightclub/ bankers bar type thing in the basement that seemed to contain some boorish fools when I passed them on the way to the lav. Will go back if not working one day for the half price offer But probably not rushing back in a huge hurry...

The downstairs basement is a great venue for a party with support from very helpful and friendly staff. We also had a meal in the restaurant which was excellent. We had a great night.

We had our wedding meal at the Well on 5th November 2011.

We found all of the staff at the Well to be helpful, professional and courteous from day one and everything on the day went better than we had ever expected. They made sure all our requirements could be catered for before we booked, we had an excellent tasting session (which our guests were very jealous about) and they made sure that everything we asked for was provided on the day and that it was done completely hassle free.

The food was of a very high quality, the room looked lovely but most importantly the staff were so wonderful to us. They could not have done any more to make our day perfect and it was by far our favourite part of our wedding day.

Our family and friends, particularly our parents, all told us how impressed they were with the quality of food, drink and the level of service.

We would thoroughly recommend the Well for weddings. We can also recommend them for Christmas time as we returned for a meal with friends and received the same high quality food and service.

We had a lovely Company Christmas Dinner at the well. They catered extremely well for just over 20 people.

The food was delicious and was all brought out in a timely fashion despite the size of our party, the staff were friendly and fun -- highly recommended!
