Tried FishWorks out in a couple of other places and the one at Turnham Green for the first time the other day. Have always enjoyed it but particularly impressed with this place. Had the perfectly cooked piece of tuna, charred on the outside, pink on the inside, difficult to achieve at home, really excellent. Had the squid for starters with garlic and oil, a really Mediterranean type of dish, lovely. The best thing though was the service, knowledgeable and enthusiastic fishmonger and really efficient and beaming waitress / manager - sorry don't know anyone's names!

Will definitely be back. looking forward to the outdoor area as the weather warms up.

I have been to Fishworks twice and both times was very disappointed. The last time I went I wanted oysters to start followed by spaghetti and langoustines. No oysters, and no langoustines. They suggested crayfish with my spaghetti, which ran out too. I landed up with deep fried roe and spaghetti with mussels - NOT what I came in for! Overpriced. Will never go back. It was appalling.

We are regular lunch visitors to this restaurant and have never had cause to complain. Fish is fresh, big portions cooked simply but very well. Staff very friendly. Now they have the set meal value is outstanding.. I can't understand people complaining, it is just for people who love fish.

Average quality fish and "extras" such as vegetables, chips, etc making a mediocre and expensive meal. Presentation poor(small piece of fish on a large empty plate) and service below average.

Totally overated and very poor value for money and I would not return.(Dined at the Fulham Branch)

Fishworks is probably one of the most over rated Fish Restaurant chains in London. I have eaten in the Richmond Fishworks once as well as the Turnham Green branch. There is no denying that the quality of the food is slightly above average. But the restaurant lets its self down by serving smaller than average size portions of fish. Service could certainly improve too. I won't be revisiting Fishworks.

I totally agree with the reveiwer below. I recently went to Fishworks, Chiswick for my birthday dinner. Having heard great things about the place my expectations were high. They didn't deliver - average fare, overpriced, with many menu items missing. An unwelcoming & unhelpful waiter all added to a most disappointing culinary experience. Will not be returning.

I can only agree with the majority of reviews here. Most of the specials (on the board) were not available (as was our 1st choice of wine). The Taramasalata appetizer was miniscule (but only £1.95). The “Fishcakes” - plural - starter was only one Fishcake. The £8.95 scallops was 2 (yes two!) scallops (er £4.45 each!). The Clams starter (£9.90) was a small bowl of small clams (approx 20). The Mussels starter (£7.90) was around 20 mussels (1 or 2 of which were a decent size). The most hilarious event (shades of Basil Fawlty) was when we enquired if we could have the “Breaded Haddock” (£13.90) but without the breadcrumbs. We were then presented with an uncooked piece of Haddock (estimated weight 10oz) and informed that this would be £25.00! Clearly either the breadcrumbs have a negative value or the breaded haddock is not fresh and is pre-prepared (probably more likely). Oh! and the Lobster is £50.00 per Kg. Service was chaotic with, as an example, 2 separate waiters asking us if we want to order within 10 seconds of each other (we had sent the 1st away as we needed some more time to decide). This was one of the most expensive restaurants I have ever been to; for these prices I expect flawless fresh food freshly prepared, flawless service and reasonable portions or the very best of cuisine with smaller portions. They achieved none – hence my scores. Save your money here and go to Bluebird or, even better Rick Steins’s bistro in Padstow. Prices are similar but the food light years away from this nonsense. These guys are having a laugh.

The choice was restrictive but we went on a Sunday afternoon and of course the point of this restaurant is to go for the freshest catch. I had the Zuppo which was excellent and the oysters were great too. I think the restaurant woould benefit from providing a larger portion of taramasalata even if they have to charge more for it. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic but not entirely knowledgable and they would do better if they had someone knowledgable to discuss what the best Fishworks experience could be. Not overly expensive and I will definitely return.

This is how a fish restaurant should be. The real meaning of fresh fish can be seen, and then it is cooked so simply to allow the greatness of the fish not to be swamped in cloying or fancy flavours. it may be pricey but Fishermen work hard to fish in all weathers for us - we should be careful not to drive down the price of fish as we did with meat and encourage unethical fishing. Highly recommended for good food and a pleasant lively atmosphere.
