Thursday, March 31, 2011 - Not for the last time in the evening someone said 'I make this better myself', referring in this instance to the Greek salad with its large hunks of feta (better crumbled apparently). The pate was fine...The volatile standard of cooking and the sound effects of crash, bang, wallop as plates fell off a shelf serving as the pass created the sort of dilettante atmosphere which you either hate or love. I rather loved it and said to myself that thing you should never need to say, 'we probably could have chosen better'.

Sunday, March 06, 2011 - F had the curried butternut squash soup, which was very charming, had a sweet, honeyed top note, quite a serious curry hit, a very smooth, silky texture, an elegant drib of posh, very green olive oil and a lot of dimension...Asian-style pork belly was brilliant. It was a huge great slab, I guess to make sure people got enough, even those who wouldn't eat the fat. I will eat the fat - that's the main reason I order it - so of course I ate way too much. A ginger and sesame slaw underneath was excellent and balanced the richness of the meat with an exotic, explosive crunch and lightness.

We had an excellent meal here last night. We booked last minute, and they only had availability at the counter near the entrance, which was fine and perfectly comfortable. Once they realized a table wasn't showing up, they asked us if we'd like to move to a table, which was great.

The service was excellent - our waitress was fantastic. Friendly without being overbearing. The food was fantastic as well, and the kitchen were very accommodating to modify a dish because of a shellfish allergy.

I'll be back soon, and would recommend this place to anyone.

It's very simple really. A great local restaurant for brunch or lunch or dinner serving well cooked food with a very interesting wine list. The service is impeccable and the whole ambiance is relaxed. Why can't more restaurants be like this?
