Went to the Sherlocks Bar & Grill last night for what I was hoping was a reasonable meal at a reasonable price (taking into account the offer).
The waiter was pleasant enough, giving us a choice of table, but the actual place itself is pretty grim. Yes it's a hotel dining room but even then, there is no need to make it look so depressing.
The waiter was perhaps a tiny bit too keen, which is still better than some of those who disappear never to be seen again, but pleasant and conversational.
We ordered drinks, not the most reasonable wine list but not terrible.
For starter we both had the foie gras terrine. Unlike the previous reviewer we both received a decent enough sized portion, and it was not bad at all. Slightly cold but a good flavour. The accompanying chutney was pretty horrible though and could have been done without.
For main I ordered the rib-eye steak, which has a £5.00 supplement, and she ordered the Gressingham duck breast. Both orders were pretty dismal affairs. The duck was, to my mind, almost inedible. It was grey inside, whilst the fat was white and still rather present. and unpleasant looking, the skin on top was not crisp or giving the impression of having seen a grill, not by a long way. This was not an example of good cooking at all. It was tough to cut and chewy.
My steak, accompanied by a flaccid mushroom and 4 'chunky chips' with bearnaise was almost as bad. Having asked for it to be served medium, it was definitely on the overcooked side. Not overly flavoursome, and again chewy and a bit tough, a fine piece of meat this was not.
Dessert was passable, pre-prepared and quite dull although I liked the honeycomb icecream the panna-cotta was also not bad but the whole ensemble was turgid.
All in all very disappointing. The wine was £30.00 for a bottle, the whole meal with 50% off the food came to about £88.00 .
I would definitely pay the extra 50% and have a far better meal elsewhere.This is not good value even with the offer and I seriously do not advise you go here.

Come to this restaurant with the 50% offer.A big disapointment.
We had foie gras,good size but tasteless ant crab with mango who was not exceptinal and very tiny portion of crab.
Main course was lemon sole,only 2 small pan fried fillet,sevrved without any sauce and few al-dente green bean,definitely doesn't worth the price For myself,i choose their signature dish, a 280 grammes rib eye steak with flat mushroom,chunky chips & bearnaise, charged £22.50 + £5.00 supplement..
What a shame when my steak arrived.. A 150-180 grammes maximun with a very small flat musroom on a small bed of plain salad & 4 chips.Of course , I ask the waitress about the size of the steak, took my plate away and come back few minutes later with the same plate and the "" chef " just add a piece of steak cook in a hurry ( ask my meat rare) and have been explained by the waitress that the ribeye was cut like that.What a shame for that they call their " signature dish.
Also the service was slow and inexistant.An hour and halr for 2 courses,and a few different waiter/waitress for an appaling experience.No need to mentione that after 2pm (time of the booking) the restauranyt wasn't very busy & the duty of the waiting staff was to visit the restaurant room every 15-20mn just to show it was someone working around but no attention to guest.
All in all AVOID this place. could find better in this area.

That is the best restaurant I know in London: food is very tasty with good portion, service is always good and the ambiance is cosy. Only point to improve may be the music, which should be more jazzy. I recommended this venue to several friends and none of them was disappointed.
I noticed the new menu a la carte that I will soon try.
