TimeOut - 3/5

Wednesday, December 22, 2010 - 'Healthy. Fresh. Mexican.' This is the tagline for Adobo Mexican, but they're not fooling us - it's another burrito bar. Portions are huge, the permutations of fillings are endless, and the staff we spoke to didn't speak Spanish. Not that you have to, of course.

I discovered this place about a month ago and wished I'd seen it way before! The food is amazing and they use fresh Ingredients everyday, which is suprising for a fast food restaurant! I make the trip from Great Portland Street every week now without fail! Best mexi in the area! 10 out of 10 from me :)

I'm from Canada and there are several great fresh burrito joints in Vancouver but I failed to find any that were worthy in London - until I found Adobo! It was recommended by a friend. I get the same thing every time I go (grilled chicken burrito and guac) and it's the best. The guacamole is seriously addictive. The menu is good value and everything is always very fresh and filling. I heard they offer delivery for office lunches so I'm going to do a group order for casual Friday at work. :-)

Adobo has become one of my fast favourites in local lunch-time venues. This is due to the combination of quality food, excellent portion sizes and great customer service all at a reasonable price.

They have a wide selection of meats & fillings, salsas of various spiciness and a decent array of Mexican soft-drinks and beers. They also offer a loyalty card, eat 7 burritos and the 8th is free (not on the same day obviously!) and this in turn reduces the average price paid if you are a regular visitor.

Friendly staff - a lot of them native Spanish speakers (I have no idea why Timeout felt compelled to mention that they weren't, but I feel compelled to counter it!) and after a few visits I am on first-name basis with the guys.

The daily queue out the door speaks for itself - quality Mexican food, great options and not too pricey. Recommended!!

Popped in after work for a quick burrito (again!). Quick service. Great burrito. And decently priced. I'm no burrito aficionado like Nick S below apparently is, but my Adobo experience has obviously been much different to his. I wanted a fresh, tasty, filling, reasonably priced burrito to eat in and that is what I got with minimal fuss. Simples!

Hmm. I can't help but feel like a lot of these reviews must have been written by people who work for Adobo (which is surprisingly normal practice!) because this place really is not worth 9/10 or even 7/10.

Its good, I guess, if you want fast service and half decent food. But it is not the best burrito in London (believe me I've tried a few, Mas Burritos, Chilango and Daddy Donkey to name some) by any means.

I've been twice now and both times the quality of the burrito has been average. It just isn't very mexican, the meat is just meat, no real marinading or added flavour to it. The guacamole is pretty bland too, and having tried their medium and hot salsas I was blown away by neither. If you compare the relative quality of say Chilango's guacamole (which is delicious, velvety and fresh) and Daddy Donkey's excellent variety of meat, Adobo looks poor by comparison.

Even the pricing ain't great, I had a chicken burrito with chorizo (extra for £1!) and guacamole (plus usual trimmings, lettuce, cheese, sour cream, rice, black beans) and it came to £7.20. Which is far too much, especially when the amount of rice and lettuce inside let a lot to be desired.

Overall, in the context of London's mexican scene as a whole, a poor effort.

Best burrito in London. After years of disappointment at the inability of London burrito joints to create a good tasty spicy burrito, I've finally found deliciousness wrapped in a tortilla and served with finger licking guacamole and fresh salsa.

Thank you, sweet Jesus!

The food is absolutely delicious with the added bonus of being healthy. The service is good and portion sizes are very generous. I've never left feeling anything but full. Keep up the good work!

Ths place is fantastic. Who knew there were so many variations of burrito?? The beef is my favourite although the meatballs taste superb and have good kick to them. There are different sauces and add ons just to make it even better.

I am a girl with a big appetite so like the portion sizes. It's good to be full up but not starving an hour later as with many other forms of takeaway food. The few times I have been in, it's been busy but the staff are still really friendly.

Burritos forever!!

Simply amazing! Not the cheapest lunch in the Holborn area but certainly by far the best and the most filling, and healthy too (although I'm always tempted by the extra cheese, avocado and sour cream!) Plus really helpful and friendly staff - I am already a regular. Recommend highly!

As a Mexican, I was really surprised to find such a good place for fast Mexican food. It was fairly busy –which is always a good sign for a restaurant- but without having to wait long to be served.

The service is outstanding, everybody with a smile, very friendly and happy to assist (bilingual) any customer request. And this is one of the things that make Adobo even more Mexican, since we are use to exceed-expectations service!

Food is very healthy, fresh, tasty and as hot as you fancy.

I love the location and the slogan is brilliant! The sandwich is dead!!! Long live the Burrito!!!

Can’t wait to go back for more.
