Daphne

Fabulous food great service and a really nice place to spend an evening. The hospitality at this restaurant was simply fantastic, a smile and a genuine welcome greet you on your arrival and it gets even better as the night goes on. Just leave enough time to enjoy this great greek restaurant.

We're also surprised at some of these reviews. We used to be regulars at Daphne while we lived around the corner, and still travel across London to go back now. The meat mezze is a fantastic deal and includes everything from fabulous dips to luscious grills, not to mention the great grape leaves. They also serve late, which is a plus in this town.

I have to strongly disagree with the previous review!! We have been going to Daphne for the past 20 years, soon after it first opened. We have never, and i repeat never had a bad meal or left feeling that the service was not up to their usual high standards!! Their set lunch menu, for just 7.75 is one of the best value for money around! where else can you get a starter, followed by a freah whole sea bass accompanied by a choice of salads, rice or potatoesfor that price? I will continue to visit this gem of a restaurant until they or i am no longer! Believe me, this is the best restaurant in (and around) camden!!

We have been to Daphnes in the past and have always enjoyed the food as authenticaly Greek as you can find .

However we were very disappointed by our recent visit, admittedly it was a lunchtime visit, but apart from one other couple we were the only diners. what was disconcerting was that we were stared at throughout our meal by a middle aged lady wh sat there in silence, eavesdropping on our conversation. She spoke in Greek to the waiter so we presumed she was the owner or manager.

We opted for the lunchtime special. Our Loubia was swimming in oil, we had t ladle off the oil slick to get to the beans. I was disappointed with the Vegetarian Souvlaki, which as described on the menu as a selection of grilled vegetables but turned out to be large chunks of grey greasy aubergine on a skewer. I asked the waiter if I could exchange it for a salad. At this point the woman who had been staring at us appeared. She shouted at me, 'What do you mean exchange'? A salad will be extra. You should have said you did not like Aubergin!". But jhow was I to know that the Veg. Souvlaki would consit of just greasy chunks of aubegine?. She stormed off. At this point we did not feel like staying much longer so asked for our bill and left. We will not be back to Daphnes.

It seems that the standard of service and cuisine has changed drastically from the Daphnes we once knew. Little wonder it was empty apart from one other couple.

Came here on a rainy Monday evening after work.

The first impression, a full restaurant of contented diners, was good.

The food, classic greek restaurant fair, was very good. Char grilled quail was succulent and not dried out, the lamb shashlik tender and pink in the middle.

Service was excellent, friendly and unobtrusive.

All in all a great place to know in Camden which, despite the number of eateries, has precious few worth returning to.

Daphne will become a regular haunt.

I have no problems in recommending this place; it is definitely my favourite Greek restaurant. The staff are great, the food is good and the service is at an excellent standard.

The decor and atmosphere is great for a romantic night or an evening with friends. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

The menu has a great choice of fish, meat and vegetarians dishes. There are three types of meze, fish (great), meat and vegetarian. This is definitely an excellent restaurant that won’t leave you broke.

I will be visiting this restaurant again.

We love this place!

The service is awesome - you are treated like family.

They remember you, your food likes and always recommend some really great daily fresh market dishes.

The fresh fish is always good. The deserts yummie and the atmosphere the best.

On a warm day go up and have dinner on the roof terrace and make sure to bring a special date.

Go! You'll love it there.

Friendly and helpjul staff, excellent food, and not too expensive. Good range and choice, plenty of specials including fresh fish and vegetarian items. I will go there again and have no hesitation reommending it.

this is a little gem of a restaurant, great service, a lovely cosy and busy atmosphere... perfect for intimate meals, but most importantly the food was lovely!

Their portions are generous and every bit from the fish starters to the baclavas and coffee at the end was enjoyable. Mains of kleftiko (Succulent lamb meat so tender it fell off the bone) and an absolutely mouth watering giant moussaka made this a really enjoyable evening for my boyfriend and I. Cannot fault the friendly service, and I will be going back this saturday...and probably everytime we want some good wholesome and tasty food and a chance for a nice chat in a warm friendly atmosphere.

My boyfriend is Greek and took me here promising it would change me already negatively conceived idea of Greek food. I was shocked at how mich I enjoyed the food. We ordered a meat mezze which was filling and includeda wide variety of taster dishes. It allowed me to sample a little bot of everything. Staff were fantastic. They were attentive and even remembered my boyfriend and what he ordered when he last visted. We felt very welcome and extremely looked after. I will be returning much to my boyfriends pleasure!
