This is one of my all-time favourite restaurants but it has a Marmite quality. I have brought friends who loved it for the same reason I do, very friendly, cocooning, retro menu, food brilliant; and others who hated it because they like open, airy minimalist restaurants with zingy new menus. I first came here about 40 years ago and it hasn't changed. I like that but maybe some of the decorative knick-knacks could usefully be refreshed.

I love this restaurant and enjoy the atmosphere . This fine jewel of Hampstead offers both old world courtesy and delicious food.

It is so refreshing to walk into an establishment with crisp white tablecloths and a menu that is not only reliable but delivers everything it promises.

If you want brash service and ultra modern decor stay away and leave it to those who appreciate fine dining in a cosy setting.
