The food is great!! I went there on saturday evening for dinner. Truly wonderful food but, I am very surprised that this establishment would employ such a rude and unprofessional general manager.
Our evening was truly spoiled due to his lack of professionalism and mannerisms. I will not be going back there while he is employed there and I have told my friends to cancel their reservation.
Shame as the food is very good. But, the staff are NOT especially the General Manager.

Went there recently for dinner with 4 friends! we all had very different food! i had pasta with zucchini and crab meat which was amazing! my sister has fish which was average, another friend had fish which also was ok, a friend had ravioli which was fantastic and we had a buratta to share: the best buratta i had in london so far! service was very nice, very crowded and busy so must book! loved the restaurant and really want to go back there. i love italian food (lived there for a while )and in london unfortunately haven't been anywhere that is even close to what italian food is. however daphne's is the closer option although still not 100% but i have heard of other italian restaurants that are supposed to be great so must check them out too :)

Oh dear - cramped tables with waiters shoving past, ordinary 1980's style Italian food - oligarch prices. Not sure what all the fuss is about!

Really was worried about our booking after reading the reviews on london-eating. But after similar concerns preceded several fine meals at Maroush Gardens, am pleased to report Daphnes was pretty much perfection at lunchtime, though not cheap.
Wife had Octopus starter, me duck livers, ceps and polenta. Both really impressive and just the right size to leave one hungry for main course but pleased with generosity and flaqvourings/tenderness of starters.
Min we had ribeye of beef, served with Rocket salad. Also side order of deepfried courgette strips, a nice alternative to chips. Medium Rare, staeks very good, though we swopped, as wifes was a bit on rare side, mine the thinner, more mediums of the two. Beef similar to other Caring places Caprice and The Ivy. Superb flavour tender beef.
As was wifes birthday we ordered an old favourite wine, great to see on list at about £47, Dolcetto d'Alba, Mascarello e figlio, this vintage 2008 just as good as 1988 was once. Service was witty, slick and professional. The waiter took a nice picture of us both, and he and colleague seemed genuinely pleased to have played a part in what was probably best UK lunch of the year.

The staff are charming, this is not a snooty place. However I chose the vitello tonnato as a main course and it was unrecognisable and terribly disappointing. I was looking forward to slices of pale veal with a generous coating of the tuna mayonnaise sauce. I was served a pile of rare beef with the thinest drizzle of brown sauce and some anchovies.
This was my first visit. Perhaps this is primarily a place to be seen in?

Myself and two friends had an early evening reservation at Daphne's celebrating a birthday. It was a warm evening and the windows were open giving full view of the street which creating a more relaxed atmosphere. My friend ordered a salad starter which arrived without the gorgonzola stated on the menu and when the salad returned after it was sent back, it arrived without rocket and various other ingredients. An aurbegine side dish which should have been hot but was cold also had to be returned. We had one bottle of wine and paid £28 each (12.5% service is automatically included) and I wouldn't say the experience was good value for money.

A friend and I visited Daphne's for lunch. We went for the 3 for £18.50 meal and must admit we were not too impressed. First of all we were given the wrong first course and the haddock dish was quite bland. I think the only good thing we had was the dessert. Not sure if I would recommend this one.

Daphne's used to do the best risotto primavera in London. Unfortunately it has not maintained it's standard. There were some highlights - the papardelle con ragu di cinghiale (pasta with wild boar ragu) was fragrant and rich and the pear sorbet was subtle light and fresh. But scallops were overpowered by a fava bean purée that was starchy and heavy, and the spring vegetable soup was similarly dominated by the ubiquitous bean. Fava beans made their 3rd and thankfully final appearance in my risotto primavera (arguably the only one of the 3 dishes where fava beans actually belong). I must concede the risotto wasn't bad but it certainly did not measure up to it's glorious former manifestation from a few years back. Pasta with morels was also decent but somewhat one dimensional. Both the Pinot Nero and the chianti wines dissappointed. But the most disappointing dish by far was the rabbit which was utterly overpowered by Parma ham. The dish was dry and desperately needed a sauce so we promptly sent it back. To their credit the staff were impeccable, attentive and accomodating.
Overall Daphne's is still a decent restaurant, but you have to choose wisely to avoid disappointment.

First visit today and we were pretty impressed. My wife's set lunch of sweetcorn soup and courgette risotto were very good and my tortellini and grilled squid from the main menu were excellent . Good breads too, and the service was timely and pleasant throughout. I might query value for money on the add-ons a little, with coffees at £3.50 a time and very few wines below the £20 mark -though the one we chose was pleasant enough. We'll go back
