I'm really surprised by the bad review below. I don't think I've ever had a bad dish here, and it's extremely reasonable. Friends are always impressed when I drag them over from west London - the quality at a lot of the smart Thai restaurants in that part of town is no different than Rama but at least twice the cost.

Not impressed at all with this restaurant. I could have cooked nicer thai food than this. We ordered a take away and the food was poor. The chicken wing starters were really rubbery and tasted about 5 days old. We threw them away. The prawn toast and spring rolls were soggy and tasted old & stale. The battered vegetable tempura was really greasy and just gross! The only OK tasting thing was the chicken satay.
My partner ordered a duck curry and there was hardly any duck in the dish. The little duck that was in there was mainly fat/ skin. Both my curry and my partners were really watery and runny and the little bits of floating carrott were old and a dark brown colour. The curry's weren't at all spicy and tasted really bland!
The rice also tasted cold and sticky and old! Pad Thai noodles were OK but a bit slimey and again the veg in particular the carrotts were old and manky!
The only nice thing was the spicy prawn crackers which didn't even come free with the order given that we paid over £30 for bad food i was a little annoyed at this. Apparently they're imported from Thailand hence the £1.50 cost!
I would not bother buying thai food from here ever again! Totally disagree with the good reviews some people have left on here! They must have really low standards!

Since discovering this restaurant, my boyfriend and I eat here about once a week. We always order the same thing - laksa, green thai curry, pad broccoli and coconut rice - but it always tastes fantastic and costs around £10 a head. The decor might not be great but the staff are always charming and you can't complain when you're paying hole in the wall prices. I've eaten at a number of Thai restaurants in London and every time I do, I think wistfully about this place.

Rama Thai is our favorite Thai restaurant in the area. We've been regular for years and can't find anywhere to beat it. Weeping tiger is the best anywhere and generally the dishes taste fresh and delicious. It is quiet but that means we can always get seat! We moved from Bow up to Leytonstone (which boasts two thai restaurants) but still head down to Rama thai when we can. The staff are lovely too.

I've been here a couple of times, quiet restaurant, no-frills decor, pleasant staff. For the price, I think it's reasonable. You can get a plate of pad thai with meat for about £5-6, generous and tasty. Other curry options are also pretty good. They have a couple of Thai beers on offer (Chang and Singha) and fresh juices (I've not tried them). Definitely good value, nothing fancy, just good, filling Thai fare.
