Kazans Meze & Grill

I'm not sure what all the fuss is about with Kazans. I went there expecting great food, but all I got was lots of different mediums for delivering salt. Everything is so salty! Left feeling quite ill. Also, I read that other reviewers found the service attentive. I couldn't disagree more. We waited a very long time and had to make countless attempts to get someone's attention so that we could order, then get water (obviously necessary given above salt comments), then get the bill. All in all it felt we were there forever and it wasn't enjoyable in the least. Big disappointment, which is really unfortunate because it's a really nice looking place.

I have been a regular here since it opened in late 2004 and have used it for several family functions too! For me it's particularly good for early evening family dinners where there's no pressure on parents and the staff understand what kids like (rice "towers", plain, nothing added chicken and lots of cucumber).
The food is not michelin star cuisine but it is good. What makes it the sort of place people come back to is the relaxed atmosphere, the good service and the consistent quality of food.
If you like eating out where there's reasonable food, no hassle, friendly service and good value you can do a lot worse.

I agree with Ella's comments below. It's such a shame! I absolutely love the delicate aromas, convivial feel and healthiness of Turkish food, however here at Kazans, despite obviously being very carefully thought out by the young and friendly owner, something's really missing... Having been to other Turkish restaurants in London (for example the fantastic Meze Mangal in Lewisham) I wonder whether maybe having the grill as the centrepoint of the restaurant, rather than tucked away at the back in the kitchen, would help add this missing 'something'. Service was attentive, however, and the very naughty deep-fried cheesy starters were to die for!

Having read the reviews on this site I feel that there must be an "Emperor's New Clothes" thing going on. The food is very, very average. Despite it being a contemporary Turkish restaurant which I guess is pretty novel & the nice black & white pictures on the wall there is zero atmosphere in this place. We had the mixed hot meze for starters which was nice and I had chicken for my main. It was OK but I do not know what the fuss is about. For what it is, I think it is overpriced. Try it, you might like it but I very much doubt that I will go back.

This place completely rocks! The food is fantastic, the service can sometimes be slow but worth the wait, and the place looks really funky now (they tend to always have a little something new every time I go back). Best place in Earlsfield.

Me and my girlfriend went there on a saturday evening, we had to wait 30 min for a table but it was worth. The atmosphere is energetic, the interior is comfortable. Nice wine menu. a few special food choices. The food was very tasty. Good value for what we had. You will not be disappointed here.

Booked a table for 2100 on a bank holiday Friday. There was only one special starter otherwise the bog standard menu was all that was on offer. You'd have thought that the chefs might not to be too stretched with this, however, our cold starters took 50 minutes to arrive with no offer of an explanation for the delay. Other tables too looked fed up with the long wait. There were plenty of staff milling about the open plan kitchen just not much productivity. Our main course finally made it to the table at 2300 having asked for an E.T.A! This was too late for one of our party who had to leave as they were working the next day. My lamb fillet was fine served with oven chips (could have done it myself in far quicker). Avoid the lamb shank it was sinewy and uninspiring. When the bill came there was still no explanation for the dreadfully slow service so asked if there had been a problem in the kitchen to which I was told "I really don't know, we were one short, but that shouldn't make a difference!". No compensation was offered or any gesture of good will for an evening ruined for one of our party. Very disappointing, don't bother, try one of Earlsfield's eateries this one just doesn't deserve it.

Hi - this restaurant is great and the food is fantastic.... just double check they have your booking. I booked for a group of 6 on a friday, and spoke to the restaurant twice on the subject, however they had lost the booking when we turned up and could not accomodate us... was really disappointed as we really wanted to eat there - I suggest checking your booking before you go....

I'd never been here before, and on a rare night out with old friends I wanted it to be great. It was. Friendly but not in-your-face service from the moment we walked in the door, straight-from-Havana mohitos, and the best platters of mixed hot and cold meze I've ever had - great when you have oh so much to catch up on - you can just pick! But the 'proper' meals looked fab too. Not a bad drop of Pinot Grigio either, and a great vibe to boot. Try it!
