Feng Wei

Feng Wei was recommended to me by a Chinese friend. I ate there once in the restaurant - the food was pretty good but the service was AWFUL. The guy was rude and refused to explain one of the dishes to me. I decided to give it one more chance and I ordered food to be delivery one rainy and cold evening. I ordered food just after 8pm and they said it would take 30-45 minutes, but it still hadn't arrive by 9:15 so I called and the guy confirmed my address again and said it would be there shortly, but then the driver called me and I could barely understand him but he kept shouting into the phone. I called the restaurant and he said the delivery guy couldn't find my building (which is a fairly easy building to find with numerous large landmarks around). I gave him directions again and again and he finally told me to go downstairs and wait in the street (in the rain and cold!). The guy still never showed up after 10 minutes of waiting in the cold so I called again and he said his driver had gone back because we told him we didn't want the food - which was completely untrue? Then the restaurant guy said "fine, I will bring the food to you myself." By this time it's 10pm. I said I don't want cold food, and it's been almost 2 hours - he offered to give me what was about 10% discount - insulting for 2 hours waiting and cold food.
I ripped up their menu and threw it away. I will never order from them again.

You know, I'm not expecting the world when I order a lunch special for takeout. However, when I order something with chicken in it, I do expect there to be more than 2 pieces about the size of a 50 pence piece. I might have even been able to overlook it had it been tasty, but unfortunately this dish was a flavour-free zone, and bland as hospital food. All this for the low price of £5.90. Ridiculous.

I have not been to the restaurant but we order take away quite frequently and I am very happy with the food. I am not a fan of Chinese food but the take away from here changed my opinion. It's a good value local alternative for those days one does not feel like cooking. Very much recommended.
Staff is always polite on the phone and unlike a previous review I have had no problem with common sense questions. The bloke on the end of the line is always very thorough and confirms every item, address, phone number. I speak slowly and clearly - knowing that the phone is the hardest thing to make clear in a foreign language.

Lovely staff, great location, and deeply unmemorable and expensive food. Bland with a capital B, though presentation is good. So many better options in the area -- only good if your looking for a high-priced disappointment.

My husband was made redundant a couple of years ago so obviously we don't eat out anymore. We have been saving for a long, long time for my birthday and finally we came to visit you at the your restaurant.
Restaurants very rarely hear from customers unless they have a complaint to make so I would just like to say what a wonderful, wonderful time we had. I really didn't want to come home again to reality. We were treated like royalty by your staff and the food was the best I had ever tasted.
For one night I felt so special and I will never forget it. Thank you so much for making my birthday, Please pass this on to your manager and general staff.
Happy Easter to you all

This restaurant left their menu pamphlet in our building in St. John's Wood yet when I phoned to see if they delivered in the area they said they didn't know which seemed odd. Then the woman on the phone asked me when I wanted to order my food (not when I wanted it delivered), and I told her I phoned so I could order...I guess they lack common sense. Did they think I was rining to just say, 'hello'?
Then I suggested that I place the order and provide my contact details and that if the there was a problem for them to ring me. At least one of us had a brain! So I placed the order and the food came in an hour.
The egg fried rice was tasty but there was hardly any egg. The chicken with black bean and chilli (which had a chilli next to it indicating that it would be spicy) was very mild yet tasty. But there wasn't much chicken..it was mostly onions. This was £5.80.
The noodles with vegetables were a joke. The noodles tasted like cardboard and despite my putting soy sauce on it...the noodles still tasted odd. They cost $4.50.
The mixed vegetable soup was nasty. It looked and tasted like pond water. There was nothing clear about it. It was foggy and had a very strange taste...almost like clove. It was the worst soup I've ever had and they have the nerve to charge £3 for this!
I thought their soups were over priced and beware because they automatically add £1.50 to the delivery. Also when it comes to deliveries they don't accept credit cards either so be prepared with your cash.
I was disappointed with the quality of the food, the strange reception on the phone, and the price. There are much better places to eat in and take away in London

When it comes to good Chinese cuisine, one of London’s best kept secrets must be the Feng Wei in New Cavendish Street. Centrally located, the artful décor and friendly service contribute towards the elegant but relaxed ambience.
The Feng Wei’s extensive menu includes a wide range of dishes typical of the four major styles of Chinese cooking, and the food itself is delicious and authentic, while the staff – unlike those in some other Chinese restaurants I’ve frequented – are efficient and friendly, which comes as a pleasant surprise.
If you’re looking for a tasty, genuinely Chinese meal at a very reasonable price, look no further! Another bonus is the wine list which is good, and again reasonably priced.
I’ve eaten there several times now, and David Peng’s cooking is always a delight – I warmly recommend this to all those interested in real Chinese cuisine!
