Le Troisieme

I hesitated before writing this very positive review, because I live in Soho, and this is my secret place! However they deserve to be full every night, so I'll risk occasionally not being able to find a table....
Le Troisième has been beamed over from a Parisian side street, tiny, basic, laid back, and very very French. Try the Beef Bourguignon followed by their chocolate mousse (the best mousse this side of the Channel. I kid you not), and £12 for 2 courses is fantastic value for this quality of food 20 yards from Leicester Square.
See you there!

Although on first impression Le Troisieme may appear small and slightly dingy, we found it to be very laid back and very French while both the food and wine were delicious.
We enjoyed fillet steaks and the best dauphinoise potatoes ever tasted. So much so, my teenage daughter asked for the recipe for the potato dish!
Desserts were also a treat and did I mention the wine? Hopefully we can find a source for the red we devoured.
A brilliant start to our theatre evening.
Hopefully we'll be back next year...

We went to Le Troisieme before our theatre performance. The restaurant was so small that it was difficult to pass through. The food wasnt great at all and almost lacking of adventure or flavour. However, it was quite expensive too. I ordered Vegetarian plat, but received salad leaves with 4 cherry tomatoes cut in half, that at a price of £9.00?!?! The service is not great either...we had to wait quite a while until comeone come to collect the order. All the portions came very small but at a big price. Staff was wearing jeans and T-shirts....something which I didnt expect at Haymarket at Piccadilly.
Overall dont waste your time to visit them. There are many more restaurants which you can have great time, food and atmosphere for the same price.
NOT WORTH RECOMMENDING!

Eating in Central london before a show? Then you'd be foolish to stroll past the unassuming exterior of this little slice of French lifestyle!
A 3 minute walk from the theatres and busy main streets with their chain steak and pizza houses, you'd do better to have a genuine taste of france in this tiny French restaurant. Arriving without a booking at 6 on a saturday, with our show starting at 7.30 we were welcomed and seated quickly and our orders taken with assurances that we would have plenty of time for the 2 courses for £12.95.
Its a narrow terraced property with tables upstairs, a bar and another room downstairs. The walls are that slightly faded plaster so reminiscent of France, with posters and adverts which made you feel you could be just off the Champs Elysees!
Our starters came before we'd had time to drink half a glass of the house wine ( not bad either) and were fried brie with blackcurrant sauce, salmon tartare and duck pate, all delicious and presented very nicely. We followed with Entrecote (absolutely melt in the mouth and juicy, perfectly seasoned and cooked just right) with frites and a salad garnish, moule frites and chicken escalope in a mushroom cream sauce on a bed of mash. All gorgeous and with generous but not over the top portions. In the end we had time but no room for dessert! The waiter was helpful and encouraging of our son's attempts to speak French. The four of us ate for £82, including wine! We will definitely go there next time we have tickets for a London Show or maybe even if we don't!
