Excellent, fresh food but service could be a little more attentive and swift.

Very warm and friendly... had to wait for a while for food but it was worth it.

Went to Luigi's last night (Saturday) with my parents, we arrived at 8pm the restaurant was very quite only two other tables occupied (this is the 2nd time I've been and the 2nd time it has been very quiet). This didn't matter though, it would have been nicer if there had been a bit more atmosphere but the music was well chosen and the restaurant has such a lovely feel about it. The service was spot on, so much choice on the menu and great choice of wine. We all had starters and I have to warn you that they are Very big plates to start however the food is fresh and so tasty you can't help but enjoy every last bite. We all thoroughly enjoyed our main meals too, I had the squid ink pasta with squid, prawns & chilli and it was Amazing! My father had the Lamb shank and was very impressed, my mother had a chicken pasta which again was full of flavour. I would recommend this restaurant if you don't mind it being so quite. It's also not cheapest but I think well worth the price.

Went to Luigi's Saturday with husband and two friends. Didn't want a starter from the menu and Ginaro brought us an antipasti to share which was to die for. Oysters, artichokes, smoked salmon, tiny whitebait, tomatoes, mozarella, parma ham, smoked ham, peppers - we started and he then said "you have no calamari or prawns" and up came a plateful dressed with a crunchy salad. All this was followed by a spaghetti lobster for two, spaghetti with mussels for one and my poached prawns in a garlic and butter sauce which can only be described as supreme. Again, my compliments to the chef. Ginaro was a lovely, welcoming and charming host, the chef was to be praised and the evening a success - the waitress also, my regrets that I don't recall her name, was happy and very willing to provide us with a good service.

I have NEVER had an unacceptable meal at Luigi's and have always left the restaurant replete and happy.

Maybe we were wrong to order a Sunday roast in an Italian restaurant but my friend and I had a very disappointing experience in Luigi's. We tired of waiting for a table in the Mansion opposite so decided to try Luigi's instead. The waiter who I presume is also the owner/boss just looked at us when we walked in and asked for a table and it may be his mannerism but it seemed like he looked us up and down as well, even though we were a lot better dressed than the other clientele (two tables were occupied). He didn't speak to us at all but just gave us the menus then headed outside to smoke on the pavement with another customer.

We ordered beef and lamb, which was passable (if fatty) and we were also served roast potatoes, green beans, broccoli and gravy. Oh and a Yorkshire pudding which had clearly been cooked hours before and just given a zap of heat before serving to us. The potatoes and gravy were nice; the rest was average. Then as we had chosen the two-course deal for £14.95 we waited for the sweet menu only to realise that the waiter was outside smoking again. So I asked a lady who was lurking in the doorway of the kitchen who told us what the sweets were. I had strawberry flan and my friend had tiramisu and they were okay. When the waiter eventually came back he signalled with his hands to ask 'finished?' so I replied back using the same hand signal. There was no ambience at all in this restaurant; no music played and the view is of a roundabout. Okay it was late on Sunday afternoon but I will be warning friends not to go here. I didn't leave a tip.

Food was very good, and service was excellent. The lamb shoulder was tender and very tasty, the duck succulent and not too fatty. Visited on a Wednesday and there was only one other table in, so quite quiet. Ganero was nice and chatty and we felt very welcome. We had a bottle of Pinot Grigio, (not my normaly favourite white), which was very pleasent. I will definately revist with more friends or family

Excellent Sunday deal of starter/caeser salad and roast lunch was impressive, Carved choice of lamb, pork, or beef (£5 supplement). Wife loved beef, I loved the Lamb, and the roast spuds, yorkshire, mixed veg were cooked nicely. Rosso Piceno (tart red from Marche) coped with the anchovies in the Caesar Salad and was ideal with the roasts. They have a cake trolley, and unruffled, adult serving staff. There is a minicab place opposite. calm with smart decor. Recommended.
