Over-priced - over-pretentious - over cooked - underwhelming.

21.08.07. Four of us had a very average meal at this restaurant which was overpriced and not good value.
Chicken soup was pour and lacking taste, frites with the salt beef were dark brown, and probably reheated and the portions of side orders eg cucumbers were small. We did mention our criticisms to the restaurant.
The ambience was very good , as was the service, but there is much better kosher and non kosher food to be had in a variety of other restaurants in this city

Very disappointing. Once seated in the restaurant we were advised that 6 items on the menu were not available (and there is a limited menu in the first place). The portion of salt beef was surprisingly small, but even more surpring was that it didn't taste of anything. Our visit was for a special occasion, however I couldn't wait to get out of there - it was cold and had no atmoshere - and we paid a lot for the privilage! Watch out, a can of coke is £2.85 (and it is not even chilled!).

I had a business lunch at Bevis Marks yesterday. I thought the problem was not really the prices, which are a bit high, but that's the price for kosher I suppose, but the food itself: unsurprising and tasteless. M&S and K10 are probably much better if you're taking the chicken salad or the salmon supposedly "teriyaki"...
Service is rather approximative, as the waitress could for isntance never remember who had still and who had sparkling water, which seems to be a basic.
The only nice thing is the bright light in the restaurant coming through the glass ceiling, but I would definetly not go back just for that.

I go to Bevis Marks Restaurant whenever I can. The restaurant has possibily the best kosher food in the country.
Yes - it's not cheap. But it's no more expensive than any other fine dining experience in London, and you would normally expect to pay a premium for kosher food in any event.
Other reviewers have complained about portion sizes. I'm always stuffed when I leave, although not so full that I feel as if I've just "taken my fast".
If you want US style portions, there are plenty of kosher restuarants who serve large buckets of chlop for cheaper - but if you want a genuine fine dining experience - look no further.
Highly recommended.

With all due respect, I have to say that £5.50 for a "coffee cup" full of chicken soup is absolutely appaling!! Sort your prices out Bevis Marks!

I dined at Bevis Marks last week and it was a truly delightful experience. The food I can only compare to restaurants such as Bibendum and Nobu, the service impeccable and it truly gave justice to kosher cuisine. Well done!!

The portions were smallish. The service was slow. The food not much to write home about. And at those prices - £22.50 and a minimum of £21 for a bottle of not very nice wine with mandatory service charge imposed - this was one of the worst dining experiences I and my colleagues have ever had.
The manager even had the audiacity to suggest that we "go to Golders Green" if we wanted bigger portions. A new definition of chutzpah if ever one was needed.
