Can't praise The Plateau highly enough. Sleek, smart, impressive menu - faultless service and beautiful presentation and table decoration for my son and daughter in laws wedding reception Saturday 26th July- arranged at 2 weeks notice!
Thank you - to the team of workers there - they deserve praise.

Was a bit sceptical about going here after reading the reviews on this website, but decided to try it out for my girlfriends 21st birthday. It wasnt the greatest food and certainly not in my top 10 restaurants but the experience wasn't dissapointing.
I thought the service was excellent whereas the selection of food was minimal. We had oysters and scallops to start followed by the fillet of beef and the chicken both ordered with vegetables and potatoes. We shared a bottle of wine and also had a bottle of water. For dessert I had the cherry sorbet (which was excellent) and my partner just had a tea.
The bill came to £127 which included a 12.5% service charge, which I would of paid anyway.
The views were fantastic and if it wasnt for that I probably would have been a little dissapointed.

A nice experience of an over-hyped restaurant. It is purely a "designer" restaurant, the focus being in the design of the layout and furniture, and its food.
The service was reasonable, the food itself was nothing special, and extremely overpriced for its lack of character, however, it was fun to observe.
Interestingly enough, we were given a very nice booth facing the kitchen, where we were able to observe the habits of the kitchen staff. Because the waiting staff repeatedly forgot to close the sliding doors - something often corrected by the head waiter as he checked up on procedings - we had a constant view of one of the bins in the kitchen.
We were not disappointed, as we knew what to expect, it was fun but not worth paying the money to experience again - except perhaps to lounge around in the bar, which was very nice and had a good view.

Had a lovely lunch last week with a friend who works at the Wharf. We both had cod and chips - cod was sublime, beautiffuly moist fish with crispy crispy batter. The petit fours were divine too and we didn't even have coffee! Can't wait to return. Hopefully it will be soon.

I like this place very much and come quite frequently for both drinks and food. I live nearby in Canary Wharf, so it's actually my local, if you like.
Personally I prefer the food in the grill, rather than the main restaurant, as if you fancy something as simple as pasta, that's where they serve it. If you go for dinner, I would recommend coming during the week, as CW is quieter at the weekend, and therefore there is less atmosphere on a Saturday. Also, if you like music with your meal, then eat in the grill; if you don't or don't mind, eat in the restaurant.
The best bar to drink in is that located between the grill and the bar, overlooking the square. Very comfortable and the view is superb.
Some other reviews nonewithstanding, rest assured I always get excellent service when I go and they are always happy to see me. I had my last birthday do there, which we all enjoyed, and some of the staff gave me a birthday card!
And, guys, if you think it's too expensive, then why do you go in the first place? The prices are all listed on their website so you can do your research beforehand!

Went there with a few friends for lunch. My friends were there first and I was late there. Appalling service at the door. They didn't even show me to my friends' table and told me to find the table myself.
I even had to provide a £20 non-refundable deposit to book the place.
Food is nothing to write home above.
Only good thing there is the view but with such service, you can have a great view somewhere else.
Dear friends, please do go somewhere else where you will really enjoy yourselves.

My wife and I chose the Plateau Restaurant, Canada Place, Canary Wharf to celebrate our 34th wedding anniversary, sadly!. The meal with a bottle of Conran water and 2 glasses Sauvignon house wine and 2 glasses Merlot Bern (which I did not order and failed to send back not wanting to spoil our evening) Cost us £138.60 plus service charge etc totaled £156.92.
The starters were Scallop Cheviche, tasty enough however so thinly cut and hardly covering the middle of the plate (compliments to the chef!, how they cut such thin slivers would be a wonder even to a brain surgeon). These 2dishes cost £25.00. Thank heavens for the bread basket served with “margarine!!” or we would have starved. The Beef ordered (2 dishes at £52.00), was both tasteless and dry with a no vegetable accompaniment, just a tiny heap of finely cut - whatever! The shared salad side order was roughly prepared but tasty (can’t go wrong with a bit of blue cheese sauce, hey chef!) The desert of Blueberry pie was tasty at £14.00 for the pair of us. Two latte at £7.50 completed the meal, we went away fairly hungry. The décor was good but uninspiring no music was played for the hour and half we were in the place. Views 180deg (not 360 as advertised) of skating rink was pleasant.
An altogether non-event and an unmemorable disappointing occasion all round.

We dined in the bar and grill. The staff were very helpful and made you feel welcome. On arrival we were shown to our seats and immediately asked if we would like a glass of chamagne. We accepted (later realising that this small pencil thin glass of bubbly was £9.00 per glass! The starter was asolutely delecious (chicken livers) but the main was absloutely terrible. It was poorly presented. My partner had chosen the fillet steak. It looked very sad sat there on the plate. A peice of meat with some chips in a small dish next to it. (very boring). I had the lamb with organic vegetables. The lamb was awful (I could have found better in my local Iceland store). A lamb steak with more fat than meat, a miniscule drop of sauce and big sliced chunks of carrot and parsnip (extremely bland). For pud, I had the gingerbread pudding (another thing I am sure I have tasted from Iceland) . My partner had chocolate mousse which he said was nothing special.
I certainly won't be visiting Le Plateau again and would not recommend it to anyone. It is extremely overpriced and the food is bland. It also was not very busy (Saturday night) therefore not much atmosphere. I rate 1 for food - thats just for the chicken livers! 10 for service - thats because it wasn't busy.

I had dinner there last night (Saturday). I do not remember the last time I felt so ripped off at a restaurant. The only good aspect was the view which was spectacular. But on the downside ... the restaurant was so dark that I could hardly even see the vastly overpriced menu (starters £9/£10 and mains mainly £20+) from which we received tiny portions. The wine menu was even worse - most bottles £50 plus and many quite a lot more than this. Some may call the staff attentive - I would call them caricatures of themselves. All this is summed up by the fact that the restaurant was half empty (the brasserie & bar would have loved to have been as much as half empty). As someone that has been to most of the "good" London restaurants and who has never been driven to write a review before the only way I can sum up last night was "rip off".

I partook of some of the 'extras' offered and had the restaurant make a cake for my mother as it was her birthday meal. The waitresses were incredibly excited, and sang 'Happy Birthday' in very sweet fractured English, which delighted not only my mum, but the whole restaurant (who applauded). It was funny.
An earlier phonecaller offered me a complimentary glass of Champagne for the occasion, but this found its way onto the bill - hastily removed by the sommelier upon explanation (although he did claim the offer a mistake).
We ate in the slightly comfier Bar and Grille as opposed to the stark slightly spartan main restaurant, and were delighted with our food. Comfy, stodgy ample helpings of fine french fare. Each of our different courses (my mum's Veal, my partners' tuna and my own duck) were filling, yet sublimly cooked. The service was attentive and jovial without being oppressive. Although, admittedly, we were there on the less busy Saturday night. The restaurant looks over Canada Aquare and has a mini-Manhattan feel about it. The tables are well spaced - much better then Conran's other effort at Butlers Wharf. I definately revisit - perhaps partaking of the reasonably priced Prix Fixe + wine.
